Highly doubt it. They don't need to buy him out.

Then the only other option is to send him to Ontario, but I don't want to do that. He will be a bad influence, if he reported.
You don't want to have prospects watching him coast around the rink and have no fire, no compete or not going to dirty areas or play on the boards. That's the last thing prospects should have around them.

So the only real option is to buy him out. He should not be near the Kings now and certainly not another
year. I think many on the team would just kind of quit and start playing lackluster too. Can't have that. Not fair to the
team or the fans. And if he's truly a leader, he would do the right thing.

Holy f***, i NEVER expected that

Yannetti, on Bulat Shafigullin:
I don’t anticipate him coming over in the near future. Without a doubt he’s staying over there next year, without a doubt, and I think that’s a really good thing for him. You hear all these different philosophies. ‘We’ve got to get these kids over here. We’ve got to get these kids in North America. We’ve got to get control of the kids.’ The KHL is a really, really good league. The VHL is a really, really good league. The MHL is a good league. They’re leagues that lead with speed and skill. They’re leagues that lead with open play, because that leads itself to creativity. So, you see a lot of fear in stuff like that, and rightfully so. You don’t have control of them. But those leagues are really good. I don’t know that you can be worried about a Russian staying over there. It certainly didn’t hurt Tarasenko, it certainly didn’t hurt Kuznetzov. We could go down the list. I’m not saying that’s who Shafigulin is. I’m just saying that the creative skill-based players seem to do very well over there, and you know what? Yeah, there’s a risk … there’s some risk, and it’s a little scary, but in terms of his development, I have no qualms about him playing at any one of those three leagues next year, and that’s the thought process. A minimum of one year over there, and like anything else, you evaluate. You make a decision right now about a person’s future four years from now? It’s going to change in six months. So, we have various plans, probably like a family tree. We’ve got one line that bridges into 15 lines of potential development scenarios for him, a lot of those involve him staying there multiple years, and we go from there. But, the only certain thing is he’s not coming over next year.

LAKI: You were in St. Petersburg and Moscow. Did you touch base on this trip with Shafigullin?
MF: Yeah. That’s the hard part. Shafigullin, he got called up, and then they sat him to the left side of the trainer. Like literally, the only thing missing was a blanket around his shoulder, and it’s unfortunate because you see the kid – it is what it is. His team was on a huge winning streak and he got called up and he ended up playing – they were playing … Dynamo Moscow, the game I was at. We watched him warm up, and then he got three shifts for I think a minute and 39 seconds with like two or three minutes. There was a 6-2 lead, take the blanket off and warm up and get out there. He’s still a very strong prospect, but when those kids make that decision to sign those extra couple of years over there, I think they have visions of playing a lot more at that top level, and right now for him, he’s playing in the MHL, and he’s doing exceptionally well there, and now I think he’s got to come back up. He suffered an injury earlier in the year and he’s just recovering from that, so it takes some time to win back – the coaches tend to trend to the older players, and he’s got some work to do to win his coaches’ trust back. [LAKI: What type of a player is he – just skilled?] Just dynamic, skilled, excellent around the net, great hand-puck skills and stuff like that. Skates well.

i swear to god bulat's name came up here a month or two ago as if someone had some smoke on this fire

weird

True. But I am encouraged they are making moves:
1. waive Amadio
2. trade for Lemieux (possible bottom 6 upgrade and toughness)
3. trade Amadio for Wolanin (big whoop, but depth and Amadio was done here) If Wolanin's shoulder heals, he could play if needed
4. Waive Luff
5. getting Shafigullin over now. Bodes well that they are trying to get speed and skill in the system.

I expect the next move(s) to be bigger than those 4. But not much movement yet in the league. I think we'll start seeing some deals
more and more up until the deadline, April 12, 3 PM EST.

Buying Carter out is a no brainer. You get another contract slot, open up a position for a prospect and you take a hit against the cap next year when we don't need the space. Then, you honor him with a night, give him a couple of gifts and let him enjoy his millions and the rest of his life on the beach with his family. Jeff was a great player- we would not have won two Cups without him, but Father Time is still unbeaten. He's clearly done and accomplished everything you can in his sport- Championships in Junior, the Olympics and hoisting Lord Stanley's Cup twice. This has been a great relationship for both him and the team. There is no shame in ending it now. I'm sure he would appreciate not being brought back as a shell of his former self not being the dominant player that he once was. Unlike the other Core 4, he should not have his number retired but the HOF is not out of the question. It is time to move on. Thank you, Jeff.

i don't even think a trade fixes this, you just need your $30M power play unit to convert better than 2 in 32... that well is bone dry like someone said the other day

He has one goal in the last 19 games. I guess that’ll make him a perfect fit.
One more goal than Byfield lol.

Plus just to be honest and genuine. Lots of players would suck on the Sens as opposed to the Kings unless you think the teams are on the same tier.

The Sens have more goals than the Kings.

I love Dillman, and that article was a bad, bad idea. I get the spirit of fan interaction but holy smokes.
Might just have nothing else to write about. Kings can't score and lose. Can't write the same thing every day. And she's written her trade ideas many times. Maybe just a way to see if anyone has anything interesting.

Kings are only 4 points up on the Sens even with 2 games in hand. And with the way the team is playing those games in hand will be L’s.

So yeah the Kings are in the same tier as the Sens bottom 6 teams in the league.

stats don't lie. Outside of Doughty, we've gotten 4 goals combined by our defensemen. Roy is now out with covid, so it;s even worse. It seemed like the pp drove everything, when it was working , other areas worked. Now, currently 0-31 and counting, no offense at all. They lost their mojo on the Colorado roadtrip and have never got it back, only scoring more than 2 goals three times since. the pp over that time span went from 25.7 to 6.3, including two 5 on 3's and a 5 min major.

Carter can be bought out with a cap hit of $4 mm next year and $666,000 in 22-23. I suspect that is what will happen.

I don't see it happening. He's only making 2 mil in real dollars. It will cost more to find anyone decent at center/wing for less than 4 mil, plus term. From what i've read, AEG isn't doing too well and do not want to put out anymore money than they have too. Plus, there is nobody ready in the minors . It's been a rough 2nd half for Carter for sure, but he still has something to offer. He, like the rest of the team hit the wall and are having a had time getting up.

TMac reads this and gives Carter 18 minutes of ice time and top PP playing time.
