They've been linked to Mattias Ekholm, wondering if it’s him or possibly Ekman-Larsson.
OEL has a no move and has said he would not waive in season.
I think Ekholm only makes $3M or something a year, think the Flyers could have found the space without waiving Ghost.

When was the last time a guy with a somewhat big contract got picked up by waivers? It seems like they always pass through. If there were teams interested, there would have been a trade already.

In regards to Ghost, man what happened to the guy? He had a Doughty like start to his NHL career, he was unbelievable.

Injuries, mostly, and getting inside his own head.

Sounds like a precursor move? Or also getting him waiver'ed to taxi squad like Amadio/Wolanin.

Strange move by Philly. He was their best dman in some of the games I watched them this year. Though some other games his defensive play wasnt so great but its fixable in my view.

If your defense isn’t great at his age. It’s not getting better. And that point you are what you are defensively.

He also had Dave Hakstol happen to him.

Wondering if the Kings would do this though (kind of why I'm here).

It would put me in a very advantageous situation again of my second team burning my first one

I actually disagree on this point, hockey IQ is absolutely something that continues to develop as you are in the league. What you said does tend to apply to skill/athleticism, but I don't think it applies to defensive awareness.

Would the Kings trade Vilardi and parts for Laine?
No. GV is still early in his NHL career. He has the tools to be a key player for us. I like Laine, but not interested if the cost includes Vilardi, Byfield or Turcotte. What I’d be willing to trade for him (Kemp’s + pick), would not be enough.

I would do Madden +, but still do not think the timing is right. More of an offseason thing.

Really columbus should hold him. Next year there will be a new coach as Torts is in the last year of his deal. I imagine he would have been replaced if it were a normal year, but owners need to save money. See how Laine does under a new coach and then decide on next steps.

Rumor is Laine wants to sign in La I have seen it said in a few places. If this is true I would wait till then by then we will know what this team needs alot better

Lmao I wouldn't have traded Amadio for Laine. I live in Winnipeg, I've seen more of him than I'd ever care to. Selfish, entitled, one dimensional pos. Want him nowhere near the team Blake is building

No on Laine.

He's a head case and by his own admission a coach's nightmare. He demands playing time and line mates that he's not earned. He's self centered and would be a disaster in a young clubhouse. He doesn't put the effort on defense so when he's not scoring, that's a problem. Not to mention his salary demands will be through the roof.

Laine admitted he could be a coach’s nightmare because of his stubbornness and his me-first attitude.
“There’s been some times when I was younger where maybe the coach wants me to play like this, but I didn’t feel like I kind of needed to, or I just wanted to play the way I wanted to play,” said Laine. “If I tried to play my own way, I wasn’t playing or I was sitting on the bench or I was not even on the roster. There was a season where I played like five games, because I wasn’t ready to play the games that he wanted me to play, but I think that’s only a good thing because there’s millions of guys that can be that player that the coach wants them to be.
“But I didn’t want to be that kind of player. I wanted to be my kind of player and develop that way.”

Last year, Flyers fans were trying to hang Ghost from a lamp-post.

Today they're in a homicidal uproar over him getting waived.

I haven't seen enough of his play to know what the real deal is. Is he as bad as Flyers fans say he is, or is he as good as Flyers fans say he is?

Seems worth trying him out... but I have no idea. Very curious situation the whole league is in this year.

I would want Ghost for the simple reason he's got a crazy strong shot and would make our PP much more lethal. Yes big Contract waiver players don't get picked up often at all, but Ghosts situation is different. What rumors are there?

There's always been more pro-Ghost people around than anti-. Most of the people who don't like him are bored Eagles fans who hated Carson Wentz

Where's this whole notion of the Kings making a bigger deal coming from?

The Mayor said the Kings were working on 2 bigger deals AND Lisa Dillman on the Athletic said this:
Lisa Dillman
STAFF. Not the move I was expecting. #Understatement

One can say whatever about Hoven, but he's proven to have connections and been right before...but Lisa Dillman rarely says anything and seems like she may have heard rumblings.

Uhh if Blake is serious about making a move and reducing some of the redundancy on this team then the only thing that makes sense is a big trade.
