And this is way I disagree with trying to improve the current team.

There's nothing we can do to make this current roster a serious contender. Improving this team just means you're drafting lower, thus reducing your chances of landing a good player.

I know some feel this way on this board because of the odds of getting a better player higher in the draft. Totally understand the odds.
But then you have the Oilers, and how do you explain what they been going through? It's poor managment, development, disappointments etc... how many 1st OA picks did they have?

There is more that just draft positions to get high end players. If you hit on a few late 1st, 2nd+ rounders, it is the difference between a good team and a contender.

IMO it takes talent to find and develop talent.

Look like ticket sales are slumping. It’s not quite $10 bucks a seat, with a free soda and hot dog, but it’s still pretty low prices. Sad fall from the height of the cup years, thanks BLuc.

Die Hard Season Ticket Memberships | $20 Per Game

I think they had already offered this or this came up a while back. Was going to try and dump the three on my account that are non-Die Hard that my sister and parents pay me (s-l-o-w-l-y) for and then try to get them their own but the rows available were way up at the top.

Makes sense though to offer them. Seems like a more limited offering v. the initial Die Hard deal back in the early 00's which was limited as well.

Still makes more sense to nab off StubHub unless they are surprisingly good next season; however, it is a nice investment if you want to get in on the cheap for a long term season ticket hold. The initial Die Hard deal was a godsend to 23 year old BigKing and several friends have benefited by "leasing" a seat from me for numerous seasons. Only question is whether Bluc will take you from the ground floor on up to the penthouse or if you'll have to wait seven years like I did just to make the playoffs.

I had a pair of seats in 217 and then 206 from 2001 to 2018. The first few years were part of a group and then I bought my own package in 2009. I never liked sitting in the 300s, but I think the crowd behavior got worse throughout the arena after the cup years. More fights and beer throwing. Add in the bad in arena experience and boring team, and I was done with making the trek to Staples 35+ times a year.

I was on the fence about renewing for 2018/2019 and putting my seats up on Stubhub, but decided not to because I was planning to move from SFV to OC in late 2019. Good call in retrospect.

Yep I was a holder in the 216-218 section from 2010-2019. My kid (hockey buddy) went off to college so I let them go. The product on the ice did not persuade me to ride out the kids college tour. I will be back when he comes home.

I haven't been to a Kings game in like three or four years. No reason to see this stanky team.

Nope. Nope, nope, nope, nope. It's always fun to go see hockey. I went Kings games for years & years - and they were very often bad. But it's still a good time to watch hockey.

Not good enough for me to go to the shit hole known as LA

The 2005 draft really skews this since Kopitar barely misses games for an eternity now and then Doughty is in a similar boat but, yeah, the Kings haven't necessarily drafted poorly: DL just traded all the 1st round picks away and then lost the touch on those later round picks, although Cernak/Kubalik/Roy kind of toss water on that idea as well. It's more that Zykov/McKeown didn't happen and those guys needed to happen because they were the high picks with the 1st rounders gone. To be fair, we all thought they would be awesome because DL could walk on water at that point. Zykov was supposed to be a steal and "the genius DL did it again" type stuff.

Too much of a gap between Pearson and to when Kempe actually contributed. To that point, however, the Kings were supposed to be a dynasty in the making after the '14 run so the talent already on the team should have been enough to stay competitive.

The Pearson to Kempe gap is staggering. There was nobody to fill that gap except guys who could hit, but couldn't score. We gave the Oilers crap for drafting small skill forwards all the time, but the kings did the opposite, drafting plugs who could backcheck and hit, but just not hit the net. Then anybody who could score would face Sutters ire because he was suppose to dump the puck in, NOT go around the defenseman and you know...score. He scared the scoring right out of them. IMO , when you combine DL trading away picks, his insane drafting philosophy, and Sutters style of coaching and the style of play, this is what really hurt the team going forward .

It's probably not just Doughty, or just old guys, that don't want to keep being so uncompetitive on a game to game basis, never mind big picture championship ambitions.

Werenski would be the better fit. Jones would still be a large upgrade. No one talking about DET here. Think I saw an interview where Jones mentioned DET being his favorite team growing up.

Philly may be another team to watch.
LD: Sanheim, Gostisbehere: Philly has York coming (drafted by current GM), one may become available.

Philly needs a Goalie upgrade & #1 RD. Rumor Jones won't extend there.

Philly looking to move Voracek. 3 years on contract, pass first 50-60 point wing. 8AAV or so.

Couturier with 1 year left on contract. Would be 29 this year. Little old for the Kings window. Should be much cheaper than Eichel if he's not resigning in Philly.

Philly is looking to make moves & have pieces that match up with King's needs.

Tyler Bertuzzi would be very interesting.

Meh, he’s going to the Leafs just like every other player available this off-season.

Any type of back surgery always makes me a bit leery…

Bertuzzi injured his back on Jan. 28 against Dallas but a troubling recovery pushed him to seek a second opinion and he had an operation on April 30.

"You never want surgery, but I thought I was honestly going to be a little bit more immobile after," Bertuzzi told reporters in May. "I'm feeling really good right now, so I'm happy I ended up doing it.

Quick Shifts: 'No-brainer' and most popular buyout candidates

Werenski would be the better fit. NOW. Jones is the better player and would be a better fit long term.
