Hard to predict the lineup right now, expecially with a 2nd top 6 expected to be added.
We have way to many forwards and not enough spots. I expect some trades to move bodies out.

You guys dont anticipate Tkachev to make the team? He will not play AHL so it is NHL or KHL. The talent of this guy is of the chart and he is now 25 so I would think he has a good chance to be given a shot

I think he'll make the team and surprise many here. Not confident he's a top 6 option, but should be in the middle 6 mix imo. Definitely adds competition to improve the roster.

Everyone said the same thing about Prokhorkin. He made the team because the team sucked, did practically nothing and disappeared unceremoniously into the sunset.

Have to wait until at least to the end of the month before worrying too much about what the roster will look like when training camp ends. Arvidsson likely isn't the only established addition. Still too many possible moving parts. We'll get there.

I understand. I still think they likely give him 20-30 games next year to see what they have

I don’t think we’ll see another top six added before the start of the season. Maybe a deadline addition.

I really hope the King's do not thrust Byfield in a top 6 role.

It's kind of debatable if there is a real Top 6 at the moment. Kopitar's line is Top 3 since he is on it but then you will most likely have the next two lines centered by Vilardi and Byfield. Probably going to be interchangeable until one or both emerge. I think the only way to have two scoring lines off the hop would be to put the best wingers with either Vilardi or Byfield and then let Kopitar carry lesser wingers.

Might not mean much, but Byfield averaged more TOI in his six games than Vilardi did last year. Maybe more telling is that he averaged three minutes more than Vilardi did in the latter's ten game stint the year prior.

I don't feel like that is TMAC's way.
I agree, I get the feeling that Lizotte might be our 4C with JAD assuming 3C..
This of course would mean that Vilardi or Byfield shifts to the wing to add more size and skill there.. it also likely puts them in a better position to succeed and push for a PO spot in such a weak division

I expect Lizotte to either be Smoke'n Kracken or on waivers and gone.

I would expect the lineup to look similar to below unless Seattle takes Lemieux instead.

Iafallo - Kopitar - Arvidsson
Andersson - Vilardi - Kempe
Moore - Byfield - Brown
MacD - JAD - Lemieux

Of course, MacD is a wish to play that role but probably wont happen.

If he’s played the majority of the season and isn’t near the top 5 we’ve got a serious problem.

His only competition is like what Iaffalo, brown, Kopitar, and Kempe? If Byfield isn't top 5 in scoring next season with nearly a full season under his belt then the Kings have a problem.

Just for clarification, do you mean the "full season" last year of 6 NHL games and 32 AHL games?

What? No. If Byfield gets 75+ games in the NHL next season and isn't in the top 5 for scoring then that's a poor showing of him for a team that that has no one besides Kopitar supposedly on his skill level.

So we are in trouble than if his NHL rookie season does not put him in the teams top 5 scoring. Gotcha.

Yes if the second overall player from the draft doesn't surpass someone like Brown or Iafallo in scoring then the Kings are in trouble. The only way he logically shouldn't is if Maclellan drops the ball on his usage. Outside of the top 5 scoring coming in at 6th was Trevor Moore with 23 points.

You must have really low expectations of Byfield for a team that's complete shit and he shouldn't have much issue outscoring if he's used correctly.
