I feel like the board talks about other players trying things that players drafted and developed by the Kings never would, but man it's sure been nice to see Vilardi and Byfield both making incredibly high IQ, high skill passes the last few games.

I think LA is in the perfect spot to steal a young up and coming prospect from another team before the expansion draft that can't be protected or a bottom 6 forward that should be protected but can't. They can offer up multiple prospects so they other team doesn't Los that player for nothing and loses a lesser player. They have the cap space and guys to send away. If they go the 7-3-1 route they can pick up multiple forwards. If they want to go the 4-4-1 route they can pick up a nice defenseman. Or the 8-1 route they can get two.

While I’d like that, they’re gonna go for either Clague or Strand. Unless they want speed and decide that Wagner could use a change of scenery.
Or they go Lizotte who’s tenacious on the forecheck. Or Lemieux if they want sandpaper and the Kings don’t protect him.
Honestly at this point I’d ask Seattle outright who they want then pay them with a draft pick to take who we want them to take.

Clague was drafted by the previous regime and I can see the brain trust easily waving their hands in the air over losing him to Seattle. The excuses will be things like he never made the most of his opportunities or prospects like Hults / Brickley / Moverare being just as capable.

Objectively, it’s difficult to understand why Clague is constantly scratched and Bjornfot or Anderson are given a ton of runway. All 3 are good, young prospects who deserve playing time. But what has Clague done or not done that the others are so much better at?

I get at some point it becomes a numbers game. But that doesn’t go down any easier when the likes of both Maata and MacDermid exacerbate the situation.

Clague may turn out to be a wasted pick, but I’ve seen no reason to kick him to the curb. Maybe his big mistake was not doing enough podcasts about his favorite item off the menu at chipotle.

Maybe they’re not trying to showcase him so Seattle doesn’t take him ‍

Must be from all the folks on this board that thought he was the second coming.

Maata has been fine, he had a rough start.....but he's been fine in his role, if Seattle picks him, they will get a relatively young, smart, Dman who can jump in offensively, and move the puck. It's not a big loss for us given Strand/Clague etc.

Honestly, all 3 of them are interchangeable at this point...I'd probably rank them in terms of who I would prefer staying, Strand, Maata, Clague.....with the last two being...meh ok.

Fine? You mean as a bottom pairing guy on a crappy team or Doughty's first pairing partner? Seattle would be outright fools to pick Maata.

If we're being honest, this is end of the 2nd season where they are actually committed to rebuilding, if want to stretch it and say 3rd because that's when they traded Muzzin, that's fine.

But you're lying to yourself if you think this is season 4, at the end of 17-18 they were in the Playoffs and would sign Kovalchuk.

Fine as in his play....he's offensive, makes solid plays and decisions...as far as Seattle goes, it depends on the player pool they are picking from.

This is very important, a lot of this argument is being made in bad faith assuming Blake's whole tenure has been the 'rebuild' and trying to keep moving past that until its accepted

I think it's fair and important to acknowledge it's relatively early in the rebuild but you can still be critical around that. For example, we shouldn't be friggin regressing even further at this point...

It is a pipe dream but landing Landeskog in F/A would be exactly what we need. I big bodied power forward with top line skill. Yes he is not a top center or a LH shot Dman but overpaying this guy in free agency allows us to is our trade capital on D. He is also a veteran that could play with a Byfield or give Kopitar that elite winger be has really never had.

Saw a mock draft that had Seattle taking Maatta.
I saw another that claimed Grundstrom. Who knows? This isn't going to be as obvious as LV taking McNabb. My thought on the defensemen, I would protect Strand over Walker. He's a big body, defensive D man who just keeps getting better. I feel like we've got Walker and Clague coming up in the system.

Not worried about the expansion draft. They only get one player. The players we expose have similar players already on the roster or in the minors. Will free up a contract spot and we stink already. Losing a player on our bottom line or someone that hasn’t shown enough to crack the roster won’t sink the ship. I hope we protect Lias as I think there is untapped potential. If they take Clague I would be more upset of the mindset thinking they got one of our better defensive prospects rather than actually looking at the player we lost. To me he is expendable.

We are going to need to dangle a higher tier forward to intice Seattle to take a forward over Clague. That is why I think AA might not be protected. There is a reason why they are playing AA with Byfield for now. If they click he makes a case to keep him, if not where do you play him? Also can we still get him cheap or will he demand much more than we are willing to pay and use that cap for a true top 6 player. I'll like to think AA is a sealed deal but until we see a signed contract and protection list I am not 100% sure.

Moore can play anywhere, he will be protected so will Andersson. Why waste a 2nd to lose a progressing player.

If the Kings fail to make the playoffs next season, the Kings should look into new management.

They should have been closer to making the playoffs this season, but this year is an aberration due to COVID.

DL's team made the playoffs the second season after drafting 2nd overall. Three seasons after a top-5 pick. And one season after picking out of the top-5 (likely this one).

If you can't do AS WELL as the person you replaced (within reason, not expecting 2 cups), then I will give this tenure an F.

Kings should already be thinking about new management if they were serious about winning and building a winning culture.

Unfortunately it’s turned back into a country club, doggie calendars etc. I don’t see any accountability of Blake and Luc from any member of the Kings press. Nobody is going to criticize management because they are all friends and they all get their paychecks, so who cares.

This completely disregards the situation and is such a false narrative BS...that it' hard to respond to.

DL inherited Kopitar, Brown, and within one season I believe, had Doughty and Quick,

All young, All in the prime.

Tell me the players you think that RB had that are similar.....
