Matthews slimmed down last offseason and worked on increasing his flexibility, worked with Ian Mack who also trains Patrick Kane, maybe Brown is also getting training from Mack?

So what if he's training with Matthews anyway... that tells us nothing about the type of training or the program , the expected outcomes, or as with training of any kind from my experience you get out of it what you put into it.. People are just reacting to Matthews .. which makes no sense. Also on ice with guys like Matthews , Kane , possibly McDavid (who Matthews trained with last year) ... Could be a great opportunity for Brown.. like to hear if someone knows different on that.

Matthew's training last offseason seemed to pay off. Not sure why we'd react negatively to them training together, no different really than Batherson skating with Crosby.

True we can't know, but players like Matthews, Crosby, McDavid etc are probably some of the the hardest and smartest off ice workers in the league.

To me it's encouraging.

Would love to see L. Brown come back, be healthy all season & content for rookie of the yr & create another good scoring line for Ottawa, but can he stay healthy & work hard enough to appease the coaches?

Like Troy Mann said at the beginning of last year...all he has to do is stay healthy.

K'Andre Miller vs JBD/Tychonick

It's not the proper way to look at this and everyone knows I'm very capable of criticizing Dorion

It'd be like saying the Dallas Stars traded us Mark Stone for Alex Auld

We already know that for 99% of the picks, a team could have made a better choice. Everytime you got the last "best pick" in the draft, you can be very satisfied so yes the Sens probably could have done better than JBD with their initial pick.

And if Ottawa planned on taking JBD even if they didn't trade down?

Which they did. JBD was their guy. Dorion wanted to trade down again from 26 but the scout(s) were afraid of losing their guy.

Way too early to decide on whether JBD or Miller will be better. Way too early to even close the book on Tychonick. These are very young players.

Regarding Tychonick, personally I have kinda given up on him. Doesn't seem to have progressed much since being drafted

He'll be entering his final NCAA season. If he doesn't show a significant progress, do you think he could still be signed? Limit to sign him would be summer 2022?

That being said, it was a good move by Dorion, particularly if their guy was still JBD. They got an additional swing in the 2nd round, even if Tychonick doesn't amount to much

It certainly doesn't look good for Jonny T but he's still a 21 year old defenseman. You see tonnes of D who figure it out in their mid 20s. That being said I don't see them signing him unless he shows improvement. It's kind of too bad. He was making some progress at UND but he wasn't going to get a tonne of minutes there so he moved on. Not sure that was a great move.

Yes it is too early; however, Miller is advancing upwards while the Senators picks are declining or stagnant.
