Anybody knows what to expect about Derek Forbort ?
How long is he out for and will he be paired with Doughty when he comes back ?
The fact that the Kings just signed Ben Hutton for a year should tell you that Forbort will be out for a while. No timetable was given, so it may be weeks, if not months.

He should not have been paired with Doughty in the first place, and if McLellan had half a brain and any depth on D, they'd find Doughty a better partner. Of course, Forbort did take over as Doughty's wingman after McNabb went down with a major injury, so, as they say, "what goes around, comes around."

I don’t really see how that’s a ‘interesting answer’ kinda seems like the only rational answer.

It's interesting because he was patting his head and rubbing his belly at the time he said it.

On a serious note, it is interesting because we had a discussion of vets playing themselves off the team even if a rookie outplays him.

After seeing Group A lineup today I just came on here to post that what are the odds the following will be the lineup and possibly Clifford and Lewis will not be on the team anymore because players who score 8-20 points max are not welcomed in the new NHL and you can roll 4 skilled balanced lines blah blah blah but then I read this quote and now I’m not so sure what to think but what about the following lineup. Also keep in mind Carter was moved up to 2nd line so he can at least perform and show what he’s got

Iaffalo-Kopitar-Brown
Kovy-Kempe-Carter
Wagner-Amadio-Grundstrom
Lizotte-Kupari-Toffoli
Prokhorkin

Martinez-Doughty
Hutton-Roy
Clague-Walker
Ryan

Quick
Campbell

I just want to see Prokhorkin given the opportunity to show what he’s got . Looks like he could end up being a pretty good player capable of 40-50+ points .

Edit:Keep in mind this is the lineup today in practice . Toffoli is either on the way out or Lizotte and Kupari are on the way in and Cliffy and Lewis are out. Interesting .

Yeah I thought so too. Just was interested in the lineup choices . Maybe Toffoli is on the way out ? Tmac doesn’t seem to happy with him

And what's funny about that, Toffoli looks about 25% better than last year... A little more drive, a bit more urgency, 50% more effort...and he still comes up short.
I actually thought he looked that much better, but still just MEH.

Haven’t seen him play yet ... so he looks just as bad as last year . Disappointing I was so happy when Toffoli first came on the scene , seemed to be one of our biggest steals we’ve ever drafted but he stagnated . He could have trained and practiced and taken his skating and training seriously but seems like his wifey wears the pants in that house hold. He will be on his way out after this year or maybe even before

Its amazing how much both Tt and pearson have slipped. Either that or its just Carter that has faded and he was propping them up all along.

What started as fine wine has aged like stale cheese...

I think JAD is a filler for Kovy and Tmac realizes that Carter is not going to be able to produce or show what they got with Cliffs and Lewis on his line . So we might see a 2nd line of Kovy-Kempe-Carter ... Toffoli seems to be in the dog house already . He’s on a line with Lizotte and M Kempe , Maybe gets moved . He’s been terrible his wifey don’t let him go train or skate I guess . Keeps him on check

given how critical TT was of the compete level of practices eh should be busting his ass.

My goodness doomed before it even begins. If I'm Porky I'm already thinking about the KHL if my coach continuously puts these two on my line. At least put him with some skilled guys no?

depends clifford can drive pace, just not consistently

Very rarely does camp determine anything. There might be an open spot, maybe two if you stretch it. If Clifford and Lewis aren't 2019 NHL players, then why would they go anywhere else? Who is taking them? Ontario can only have so many veteran players, and the AHL is not supposed to be a dumping ground anyway. They'll both be here until the deadline.

Age, contract, and games played. That's 90% of the roster, before camp ever starts.

It might be a combination of Carter fading and Pearson and Toffoli coming up in the spoiled Kings era with no leadership to set them straight . That and also not taking training seriously .

Not sure I completely subscribe to this. Toffoli was drafted in 2010 and Pearson in 2012. Players like Williams, Regehr, Greene were major leaders still.

They were part of the next wave I was criticizing for years among many arguments with people about Kopitar.

For years, this next wave of leadership needed to step up and begin the new phase of leading the charge. Heck, leading in some capacity would be great. But they let Kopitar and Carter continue to play all the harder minutes while also leading the team in scoring.

They seemingly accepted being a supplementary player. Which would be fine if the leading core was younger, or if other young players (like Turcotte) were drafted earlier.

To me, the biggest issue for years has been the "next" leaders. Sure, leadership was lost and Kopitar, Brown, etc could have been bigger ass kickers, but they still led by taking on the most difficult minutes. Toffoli and Pearson were secondary scorers, a la younger Mike Cammalleri.

Anyone hear anything of Bouma good or bad

He's kind of just there. Not good or bad. A body with a heart. We've got enough of those.

I can totally see that being the problem, and that's a fantastic way to put it. They never HAD to take accountability/responsibility since they were always complementary players to a Cup team. Now they're fighting for their careers. Pearson, to his credit, turned it right back around in VAN. TT? We'll see.

Kings have done a great job rebuilding their farm system. Pronman had it ranked #4 in the NHL in his latest ranking. Going to be some interesting decisions. Kings prospects probably deserve a little more attention on the Main board/prospects threads also.
