would giving Tobias a 9 game look, forcing Blake to send someone like MacD or LaDue to waivers / Ontario then jeopardize losing that player when Tobias is then sent off? Losing that player may create issues for the balance of the season, no?
No body claims LaDue, he’s nowhere near earning a spot with the Kings, so there isn’t a single team he will help.

MacD does at least fill a limited role, so I can see why we maybe want to protect him.

Could the Kings send LaDue down to ONT for a conditioning stint because he was injured for most of training camp? Could delay a decision on a waiver eligible player.
I don’t understand the concern over LaDue, firstly no one is claiming him. He doesn’t warrant a spot on the team now and he certainly isn’t going to be any part of the future in 2-3 years time. It’s not even an asset management issue as there is no value there as he cannot claim a spot on a very average Kings team.

I feel for the guy, he had potential at one time as a 5/6 guy but the ship has sailed. I’d be happy to be wrong, but I cannot see it.

Given that every center besides Kopitar is a question mark as to whether or not they're legit second line options, it would be great for Prokhorkin to get acclimated by earning minutes as a top two center in Ontario. If he's tearing it up there, he can find his way back on the roster.
I agree. If he’s smart, Prokhorkin, will see the value in adjusting to the ice in a lower pressure environment. As soon as he shows he’s adjusted I’m sure he gets recalled due to the obvious weaknesses we have down the middle. Walking away would be admitting he’s not good enough.

The problem for Prokhorkin is that he's 26 and will be making $70k in the minors. He could be making a lot more in the KHL. I'd guess that if he isn't in the NHL by the end of November he's going back to Russia. Financially, it doesn't make sense to stay in NA if he isn't in the NHL.

Lots of folks projecting stuff on Prokhorkin way out of left field.

As far as I can tell, even back to his draft year in 12, kid has been honorable and honest.

Just because he made certain choices not in line with fan expectations doesn’t make him some shady character.

I’ll take him at his word that he wants to make it in the NHL.

He set goals for himself to win in the KHL and for Russia, did that, and now he is here.

Let’s give him a chance.

Well, his first chance was to make an impression at camp and then preseason. He didn't.
So his second chance will be making an impression in the AHL and if he doesn't, he'll simply be gone.

Smirnov, Chistov, Primadonnakov...

Sick of hearing about this kid. 6 years of blathering and he can’t even make the opening night roster on a team that finished 30 of 31. So long...

Sick of hearing fans talk about a 24 year old prospect who just put up a ppg in the KHL? Seriously? Why do you have so much animosity towards him? You have multiple posts in different threads ripping a guy who is still adapting to the smaller ice size.

Well, why is it a problem to take issue with a guy who made it clear that he wouldn't sign without guaranteed minutes? Prokhorkin was a decent prospect who stayed in Russia too long and missed valuable acclimation time while he was still developing as a player. That's no crime, it was his choice. A similar choice was made by another hero/pariah in Bud Holloway.

He is damn near a finished product at 26. He didn't distinguish himself in camp, and was outplayed by those who still have upside. If he wants a real shot to playing in the NHL, he can go down to Ontario, dominate and earn a call up. That's the best case scenario. If he doesn't want it bad enough - which was the case before - then he can go earn more money elsewhere and maximize the rest of his career while he can.

There is no shame in any of this, but he just isn't "the one who got away".

Why would you take issue with the guy? He was a decent prospect that put up big numbers in the KHL. People were excited about his potential. He appears to be going down to Ontario to further adapt his game. If it is not working out then he will go back to Russia. It's not like the Kings have had a lot to talk about prospectwise, so giving this guy a shot shouldn't be met with such criticism.

I Have two total posts about the kid, this one and the other one you’re referring to. I thought I was pretty clear here why I’m tired of hearing about him. Six years of clamoring for the guy and he can’t earn a spot on one of the worst teams in the league. I’m just over him. As bland mentioned, there’s nothing wrong with his choices but he’s not an NHL player at this point, and it’s doubtful he’s gonna stick around long enough to work at it. Maybe he proves me wrong, but I doubt it.

People were talking about him because he showed more promise than pretty much anyone in our prospect pool at the time. At one point Mersch and Auger were considered some of our top prospects. He also just got here and had success in the KHL. Why don't we wait until he takes off back to the KHL before writing him off completely.

If it makes you happy, sure. I won’t say another word about him until he gets called up or leaves.

I do think, all things considered, Prokhorkin should get some time in the AHL. He's spent many years in another league where he has a lot more ice to work with. While Bjornfot should be commended for his quick transition to the smaller ice, we saw Kupari, Parik, Sodergran, etc all have some timing issues since they've come to North America.

He struggled, and he was disappointing, but he might just need some time to adjust.
