i honestly do not remember this being a thing

Stone was seen as the lesser of the three, skating issues. Irony I guess.

Toffoli is the athlete who got by on skill his entire hockey career. It takes more than skill to be great at the NHL level. As an outsider it looks to me like he lacks the work ethic, signed the one big deal and got real comfortable with how he trains, diets and plays the game.

He also doesn't have enough skill to get by. Pearson and Toffoli were looked at as being part of the future for this team, but they've both epitomized the problems this team has had with guys who got too comfortable with their roles here.

Lizotte has been a great surprise. I will be watching that line closely. As for Carter they were indicating that at the end of last year as well
i like it. getting rewarded too, giving him a challenge putting him up there as 2C with those wingers

i like what i've seen and heard from tmac so far

31 players remain in camp, so eight more cuts at the very least will have to be made by October 1.

Forwards (18): Michael Amadio, Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Dustin Brown, Jeff Carter, Kyle Clifford, Martin Frk, Carl Grundstrom, Alex Iafallo, Adrian Kempe, Mario Kempe, Ilya Kovalchuk, Anze Kopitar, Rasmus Kupari, Trevor Lewis, Blake Lizotte, Nikolai Prokhorkin, Tyler Toffoli, Austin Wagner

Defensemen (11): Mikey Anderson, Tobias Bjornfot, Drew Doughty, Derek Forbort, Ben Hutton, Paul LaDue, Kurtis MacDermid, Alec Martinez, Matt Roy, Joakim Ryan, Sean Walker

Goalies (3): Jack Campbell, Cal Petersen, Jonathan Quick

Even though he has been super impressive I'm kind of surprised Bjornfot is still here. Guess they want to get him in as many preseason games as possible before heading to Sweden.

I bolded who i think will be sent down.. I think Mikey stays up and Bjornfot gets some exposure before heading back to Sweden. I think Paul's time here is done, while both Roy and Walker get sent down to let TB get hhis 9 games and to see what Mikey does.. Ditto for Grundy, JAD, Kempe and Frk who will be back up when a few vets are moved..

Possible lines for tonight

Lil Lizotte will need to level up tonight to drag Carts and Kovy around the ice.

Grundstrom-Amadio-Toffoli
JAD-Prokhorkin-Wagner
M.Kempe-A.Kempe-Lewis

Hutton-Walker
MacDermid-LaDue

Kupari skated with ONT this morning. Martinez, Clifford present; didn't catch them in a rotation.

Can you see Phaneuf trying to make this team? And the D is not exactly...'stellar' .
I am now glad they didn't sign Leipsic. Great effort last year, but needing some youth in that bottom 6.
He may have not made this team, anyway.

Great to see Tobias playing with Drew tonight....Drew was the last 18 year old defenseman to make the Kings...umpteen years ago..and Tobias was 8 years old back then.
Would like to see Iafallo on line 2 or 3 and give Kovalchuk or Prokhorkin a game with Kopitar and Brown. Why not? We already know what Iafallo-Kopi-Brown can do.

I think Porkers game would suit Kopitar and Brown. He's physical and goes to the net and he's an underrated passer

I’ve been wanting to see Porkins to the left of Kopi for a while now and think it will definitely make a difference . All in all Porky should be given the opportunity either at 1LW or 2C.

He does go to the net and has an underrated game , might bring out the best in Kopi. Iaffalo despite having chemistry with Brown and Kopi is better suited at bottom 6 where Luc and Blake have mentioned he should be slotted at.

The Bjornfot pick alone is starting to look like a steal for Muzzin, and on top of that you add Grundstrom and Durzi.

It's a shame most of the other guys who should be moved have played so poorly that they won't be able to acquire a similar haul. Probably the only one left who could net a positive return would be Alec Martinez.

Bjornfot is definitely giving us around here a breathe of fresh air . We might finally have a steal of our own and there are few more steal candidates in the pipeline . He’s the exact type of dman we need that can make a big difference in our retool/rebuild for a quicker turnaround .

Regarding Martinez I might be in the minority on this but I’d like to keep Martinez around . Muzzin is / was a better dman and that’s why he returned the type of return he did . We can compete/contend much faster with Martinez in the lineup because he will bring a veteran presence back there and will slot in perfectly on the bottom pairing . We are not going to be better faster by having Doughty and a bunch of kids on the backend . You need Martinez and if I recall correctly we won both cups with him slotted on the bottom pairing .

Heck, even if you put Iafallo on the 4th line that just spreads out the talent we have and creates better lines.. what the worse that can happen with a Iafallo-Kempe-Wagner 3rd line or even a fourth just to mix things up and take advantage of matchups

Well you have Frk on waivers so there’s 1, Kupari and Anderson are practicing with Ontario ; both might play tonight but will most definitely be one of the last cuts. Petersen will for sure be sent down this year and be backup full time next year . 2 of MacDermid, Ryan , Ladue will
Be waived they’re dime a dozen players but going off of just experience Ryan might stay as the #7 dman. That rounds out the 7 Dmen and 2 goalies primed to make the opening night lineup and I’m guessing we will carry 14 forwards 7 Dmen so that leaves room for 2 more forwards to be sent down after Frk and Kupari . So JAD ? Lizotte? M.Kempe ? Lewis gets moved ?

After the way grundstrom impressed late last season, I'd be surprised to see him sent down. Has his camp been that unimpressive?

Absolutely nothing ! I agree completely , it gives us a better balanced 4 lines and spreads out the talent like you mentioned . We can actually have a top 10 bottom 6 if some of these things were to happen .

Not at all, he just happens to be waiver eligible and we also need to trade or waive some vets... but he'll be back around the TDL

Yeah was kind of hoping that even though they're listed as 'line 1' that they're actually the line that's sitting so we can view everyone else.

I actually had never thought of that. He's got the offensive instincts. Great freaking idea.

To be fair, I think they did a redux of the Kopitar Brown Iaffalo line so TMac could get a first-hand look as a baseline. But I’m hopeful like you guys that he’ll mix it up as well and experiment .

Grundstrom is pretty much a lock on this roster. Chance is almost nill he is sent down.

I was making that comment with the assumption he'd carry an extra Dman but now that it seems Mikey Anderson has been sent down I would guess so.. However, he didnt exactly set the world on fire but he did have some good chemistry with Amadio..
Look at us trying to figure out how to create a lineup with these kids when last season we had lost all hope!
