Madden 3pts and 9 shots tonight...impressive
Tyler Madden is a ppg player and is already half way to last season's goal total of 12 after only 10 games. And the Northeastern team he plays for is considerably weakened by the graduation of key players. Offensively, he's basically carrying his team on his back.

If Northeastern is eliminated early, I really hope Madden signs and gets some games with the Comets at the very least. And if the Canucks are a dead-team playing again in March, then I'd introduce him to the NHL for some 'show-me' games.

Love this player's offensive chops and compete level.

Apparently Madden "Ranked second in fatigue index (14.0) during the Wingate Test at the 2018 NHL Combine" (team bio),
which suggests he can sustain his anaerobic work rate for longer than that of most of his peers. In other words, he basically
can play hockey slightly harder for longer than almost all of the guys he's up against. What we see is that he's got a ton of energy
out there. No wonder he's got the jam left to do those insane cellies :)

Interesting, I'd be curious to know if there's any correlation between that metric and future success in the NHL...

Like a lot of second round draft picks, particularly out of the Dub, Woo is going to need at least a couple of years in Utica. Only then, will you know what you really have.

Will be interesting to track the progress of other dmen taken in the 2nd round after him. Guys like Calen Addison, Jonny Tychonick, Scott Perunovich and Bode Wilde.

What similarities do you see in their games?

More of a statistical comparison than a stylistic one. Two WHL defenders with good second years (with powerplay time) who drop off the year afterwards (with less powerplay time). Obviously Woo has more pedigree, but running at a 0.5 ppg doesn't bode well for his chances, hopefully he picks it up.

So it looks like the statistician for maine screwed up when he submitted the score.

Matt Thiessen has a GAA of 25.56 in one start
so regardless of how he plays from now on that stat will be all out of wack

25 goals against average LOL

I don't think it was a mistake lol - he let in 3 goals in 7 minutes of ice time and was pulled (and hasn't played since). That would be a 25GAA across a full 60 minute game.

Is anyone watching the WHL/Russia game, with thoughts on Focht, Woo, and Podkolzin? (Focht is 9/10 on faceoffs after two periods, I believe.)

That makes sense then
I didn't t look at his ice time I just saw one start and they haven't lost any game by some ridiculous margin.

Madden pots a goal today, McDonough get two helpers. Madden's hot, and McD is heating up.
Madden has 11 points in 11 games.

Rathbone gets just one measly assist today, but is tied for second in team scoring and has, albeit after
only 4 games, a 1.75 ppg average (7 points in 4 games). Not bad for a Harvard kid.

It was the big JYP (Palmu) vs Tappara (Utunen) grudge match today in the Liiga. JYP took it 5-1, but there were no points for either of the Canuck assets.

Palmu: +2, 16:27
Utunen: -1, 13:21

It looks like Focht is missing from the Calgary line-up tonight.

I think he got crunched by a Russian the other night, and I didn't see him much after that.
Could be wrong, but that's what I recall. Hope he didn't get Focht up too bad. He wasn't involved in the
multiple shootouts at the end, where Team WHL lost the game in the first shootout, but won
the series in the shootout that followed.

Rathbone seems to have started against Yale, and Harvard killed them 6-1,
but Jack's stat line is a flat line. I wonder if he got hurt, or taken out
for some other reason?

The thing is that Woo was tracking really well in his D+1 year but has taken a step back this year.
