I think we had a great draft. Kakko obviously, but Robertson, Jones, and Aaltonen were 3 of the best value picks in the draft; and don't sleep on Henriksson high playmaking upside.

But I think the 2 early D picks indicates that 1. We like our current young forwards, and 2. We can expect a move for another young forward to be a part of the core

I keep thinking about what players the NBC crew would've resorted to for comparisons if they had aired into the later rounds.

Pierre: "He really reminds me of John Scott."

They took three guys with really low hockey miles on them, which I don't think is a bad thing, but my hopes are that they know those kids really well because there were other players on the board that are a lot more proven.

The three guys are Jones, Skinner, & Cicolini.

IMO the 1st two rounds are something I'm very happy with, but the rest.... I would have preferred some better maneuvering. Will comment on the prospect threads themselves for further detail

Rangers end the 2019 draft with the following....

1 (2) RW: Kaapo Kakko (FIN)
2 (49) D: Matthew Robertson (CAN)
2 (58) C: Karl Henriksson (SWE)
3 (68) D: Zachary Jones (USA)
4 (112) D: Hunter Skinner (USA)
5 (130) LW: Leevi Aaltonen (FIN)
6 (161) C: Adam Edstrom (SWE)
7 (205) RW: Eric Ciccolini (CAN)
I like the first 2 picks but the rest of the draft seem like stretches. We will see in a few years but I personally would trade everyone after kappa for zegras or boldy

We have a whole summer ahead of us. Obviously, the drama of draft day trades is intoxicating, but if JG didn't see the right deal, then I'm glad he didn't take it.

After July 1st, when teams miss out on FA's and rosters start to become more fleshed out, teams will possibly be willing to pony up more to fill those voids with some of our players.

I have to say, I'm somewhat surprised they didn't move Kreider. With what Miller went for today, I would have thought he could have brought a pretty decent haul back.

What? I don't understand this post at all. Zegras is one of the ten best players in this whole draft. Of course you would trade all of those lesser picks for him. But Anaheim would never do that.....

I'd also trade Fast & Vesey for Zegras.

I think Gorton would've been fleeced if he had moved Kreider today.

I wonder whether getting good returns for rentals has influenced JG's hesitancy to deal guys right away. We won't be blocking too much youth development by keeping Strome, Namestnikov, and Vesey in bottom 6 roles, and they could potentially get more at the deadline what with the salary cap situation than they would return right now.

Keep Kreider. Could still move out Vesey and/or Names. Sign Panarin. Re-evaluate Kreider situation as the season goes on.

absolutely no problem with keeping CK. hes one of the few guys we have whos willing to throw the mitts down. that will be needed to protect our kids.
