Boldy is the polar opposite of Wahlstrom. Wahlstrom literally floats around the ice waiting for someone to feed him in shooting positions. Boldy loves to have the puck on his stick and will set up teammates as well as look for his own shot.
I meant more in the sense of big NHL bodied guy getting an offensive boost playing with great players. Just a hunch; we'll see soon enough.

Worried they might look at something like Hall for Quinn Hughes at the draft.

Vancouver gets a franchise winger and Devils unite Hughes bros.

Could bite us in the ass.

Krebs sucks.

There's a reason he's a -50 and if ya haven't figured it out by now then I don't know what to say.

He sucks because...of stats? Is that all you can formulate for your argument?

Captain of the Ice at 17. He sucks so bad Canada named him as captain of the U-18s, where he impressively showed how good he is.

I would be very happy with Krebs. But there's so many great players in the #10 range that any of would be great (except the defensemen).

I like any of Boldy, Heinola, Newhook, Zegras, Dach, Cozens or Seider at 10th. Long list I know.

Lol. Weisbrod is Hughes godfather I believe. Hughes is untouchable. Benning did cartwheels when he realized he fell

I mean, yes he definitely gets a boost by playing on a stacked U18 team, but really they all benefit from playing with each other. And Boldy is not ever going to be the #1 threat on a line but will be a fantastic complement to whatever Centre he’s paired with, be it EP or Horvat. He definitely helps drive his linemates success unlike Wahlstrom, who in my U18 viewings last year, is more the recipient of his linemates work/talent.

I have a feeling that the top 10 in this years draft will play out as more or less predicted...unlike last year with fallers like Zadina, and risers like Kotkaniemi and Hayton.

Whoopi.

Please pay attention who have better themselves over the last few years than the consensus.

If anything, like anything....we need the most complete player in this draft and we're going to get get him.

Trust is a funny thing :sarcasm:

Really? I think it's the opposite actually. Especially from 5-15.

After Hughes/KK/Turcotte/Byram the draft is wide open. The Kings are the true wildcard and will determine how things will shape up. Guys like Podkolzin, Caufield and Broberg/Soderstrom could sneak into the top 10 and a guy like Zegras, Boldy or Cozens could drop out of the top 10 entirely. Even guys like Kaliyev could sneak into the top 10 (how many 50 goal scorers are there).

Will be interesting for sure

Mathew Boldy is the guy that really gives me the heebie jeebies this year, in an Oliver Wahlstrom kind of way. I'm really hoping we avoid making that pick.

Boldy's defensive game is superior to Whalstroms its not even close. In fact he's compared to Mark Stone, who is one of the best defensive forwards in the game and nominated for the Selke.

Yeah I'm aware that that is a big difference between them. Never heard the Mark Stone stuff before though, that's news to me. I don't exactly hate Wahlstrom either, he showed pretty well in Bridgeport at the end of the season. They'll both likely play; I just think the complementary forwards on that team can be a little over hyped, and possibly so in this case.

I'd definitely be fine with Broberg. I think he has everything to be a 1# pairing D man albeit a higher chance to bust than Byram. Probably a bigger project too but its not like we are contending any time soon. The bigger question is if we choose Broberg where does Juolevi slot in?

I would want a forward. I understand evaluating Dmen as alternative options, but the forwards just compare better. For example, could you envision them taking Broberg over Zegras or Boldy? That would not be pleasing based upon what we currently know.

Oliver Wahlstrom’s skillset is similar to Brock Boeser’s. I don’t think Wahlstrom will ever be as good, but if you’re looking for a comparable to him that’s pretty much it.

Boldy is a completely different forward that can drive the play and is good at both ends of the rink.

You’re essentially hoping to get a Kyle Connor or Nikolaj Ehlers type player with this pick, not exactly a core forward but someone who can supplement Pettersson and Horvat well.

I’m really high on Cam York, I think he has tremendous upside. But with Hughes already in the system, probably no point in targeting him.

I think he would be a really good transitional defender for a team like Edmonton.

I like him too. Think he's underrated among the considered Dmen. Same with Harley.

That said, I would still go with a forward. There is a drop off in quality after the top8~ forwards. If there's a chance to get one, the Canucks should take it.

I agree if Zegras and Boldy are still there probably take a forward. If its between Newhook, Broberg, and Krebs it would be pretty close.
