I'd definitely be fine with Broberg. I think he has everything to be a 1# pairing D man albeit a higher chance to bust than Byram. Probably a bigger project too but its not like we are contending any time soon. The bigger question is if we choose Broberg where does Juolevi slot in?
 
If they take a D man it is Soderstrom, his name has been attached to this team for weeks.

If we walk away with Soderstrom what a lackluster pick it will be.

I can understand drafting Broberg for his upside but Soderstrom would just be a..... boring pick. Almost like OJ

I think if Broberg puts it all together (big if) he will end up as the best dman from this draft class. He has shades of Klingberg in his game.

This place would go nuts if we pased on Boldy, and rightfully so imo

If I remember correctly, the Soderstrom talk before it died down was more speculation because he is a Right shot Swedish dman. I don't remember anyone specifically saying the Canucks were definitely interested, just that "he fills a need so they will draft him".

Anything from the Canucks we have gotten has been pick "Best Player Available" and "Speed and Skill" I don't see Soderstrom fitting either of those.
 
Soderstrom and Broberg remind me of my own internal debate between Juolevi and Sergachev minus the actual offensive upside. IQ vs. Tools. This time I think the IQ guy wins out as he seems actually engaged comared to Juolevi and Broberg doesn't have Sergachev's offense.

May just be a skewed way to look at it but I think Soderstrom will be a better defensemen in the long run. Still prefer one of the forwards but if going for a defensemen...

I think their totaly targeting a Dman.

I've been wrong before though.
 
I settled on Peyton Krebs as my guy when we landed in the ten spot but I would be happy with Alex Newhook as well. Podkolzin makes me nervous for obvious reasons but he's probably better than both of them imho. I don't really see him dropping that far though. As for the two Swedish D; I'm not sure which one is the better choice but I'm hoping we don't go there.

Mathew Boldy is the guy that really gives me the heebie jeebies this year, in an Oliver Wahlstrom kind of way. I'm really hoping we avoid making that pick.

Gonna be a fun day though; I'll have the coffee on early for this...

I'll take Newhook any day of the week.

My fear is that we're going to screw this big time.

There's no telling what Benning will do.

Krebs sucks.

There's a reason he's a -50 and if ya haven't figured it out by now then I don't know what to say.

Whereas I'm the opposite with that article.

For me, coming from that article.
Soderstrom comes off as the better skater (edge work, backwards), better stickhandler and better overall hockey IQ. Broberg sounds like he skates fast, physical and bullish is the offensive and defensive zones.

Prospects as well as a notorious Elias hater. Please enlighten us as to how Krebs sucks and what the reason is for his -50

Boldy is the polar opposite of Wahlstrom. Wahlstrom literally floats around the ice waiting for someone to feed him in shooting positions. Boldy loves to have the puck on his stick and will set up teammates as well as look for his own shot.

His team was brutal and he played well at the U18s

I've said it before but Krebs reminds me a lot of Horvat. Seems like the type of player the Canucks want to target. High motor, character and leadership. Never quits. Would be happy with Krebs at 10

I would love to have Zegras too but I doubt we get a crack at him. Great playmaking ability.
