Nah there's a ton of talent on the team they're just not utilizing any of it
You know what would be REALLY cool? If Brady Skjei turned out to be a good defenseman.
I used to think USA worlds underperformance was that none of the talented players would go.
Now they've got a very solid team, and they're still sucking. They'd almost be better off with AHL guys that actually care about the medal.
He's a fine second pairing D. The problem is that people got their expectations too high based on his performance in sheltered minutes and his tools and thought he was going to be a first pair guy and McDonagh 2.0 but that was never realistic.Skjei has been the least of our problems, not sure why he gets picked on. First half of the year he was trying too hard to prove his contract, second half when he just played his game he was good.
The best goalie in the world, John Gibson? Where's he?Surely this country had a better goalie to offer than Cory Schneider?
Trust me I picked on him plenty during the season, hoping he becomes a legit defenseman (and justifying that nice contract) is not that. Maybe it’s just a matter of too much responsibility.Skjei has been the least of our problems, not sure why he gets picked on. Probably rollerblading down Venice beach. The best goalie in the world, John Gibson? Where's he?
He’d probably tear his ACLProbably rollerblading down Venice beach.
He doesn’t look ready to play in the NHL, he looks like he already plays in the NHL.Is anyone who watched willing to give a scouting report on how Fox looked?
Remember that stretch of games he played with DeAngelo earlier in the season? That’s the player I want to see regularly. He's a fine second pairing D. Solid middle pairing guy who can give you 30-35 points and play all situations. That's what he is which is very good. I actually think Skjei-Shattenkirk is a solid 2nd pair. I'm intrigued to see a possible Skjei-Fox pairing as well.
Still more talented than Slovakia, but they just aren't playing like a team
I think the US will be fine once guys figure out their respective roles on their lines.
Right now it's like EA-NHL where every line is set to "Overload" and players think they can skate into the zone in their respective lanes and just score off of passing plays.
I saw very little blocking to make room for line mates or rollouts off the half wall and I didn't see anyone immediately go to the net to try and draw attention or look for a tip.
any feedback on chytil's game yesterday? alex nunn tweeted one clip with him showing his strength. but haven't seen much else about his play
