"The hefty lefty" will always be one of my favorite sports nicknames. Sad news.

Yet pre-season games will have better ratings than the NBA finals. Meanwhile I was in Vegas recent and signed up for this with a few people. It's the first year and is in the same vein as the super contest.

Ok that’s fine, I didn’t bring up the ratings at all. Their evaluation of these instances has always been piss poor.

so just pulled off a hell of a trade in my keeper .5ppr league

I traded deandre hopkins for saquan barkley straight up and working on trading kerryon johnson for adam thielan.

my hopes is going into the season with my keepers of saquan barkley, keenan allen, adam thielan and joe mixon

Might get bit in the ass for this but this might be as excited about a Jet football team before season since 2012, year after they lost to Steelers in AFC Championship game.

And I might get bit in the ass about this too but f*** it, I’m actually pretty pumped about Gase and the coaching staff he’s assembled in particuarly the Greg Williams hire and him running the show on defense.

I really really might get bit in the ass about this but double f*** it but the fact they hired Joe Douglass to run the entire show gives me this very strange feeling being a 45 year long fan of this cursed franchise, that this is not going to be one of those “same ole Jets” type seasons they are famously known for.

I really believe they got it right this time as far as the “braintrust” to lead this team now and into the future. And to me other than somehow having and developing a franchise type QB which it looks like Darnold has a chance to be, having the right leadership team in place is crucial to the success of any business including a football team.

I don’t know boys and girls but I’m stoked for this years version of the Jets. I think we might sneak up on some teams this year as a playoff spot is not out of the question. To be honest, I’d be really surprised if this team isn’t at worst 8-8 and if everything goes right, 10-6 or so and the playoffs would be in the cards.

Either way, it just feels good to have hope again...

I can get behind a lot of this. Gase, when he didn't have Jay Cutler or Brock Osweiler as his QB was a solid HC. Not great, but solid. Darnold just being solid could lead to a nice season. If he hits the ground running? Could be a very nice season. I'd put the expectation on getting 8 wins and anything beyond that would lead me to think this is a playoff team.

Get Williams signed and in camp and we should be good. If the CB group for this team steps up, could be in line to see a really nice season.

Its' a rough schedule early on for the Jets. They need to steal a couple of those games.

There's a stretch later on that looks nice, at least for now on paper - MIA, NYG, WASH, OAK, CINCY, MIA - that they'd need to completely dominate to make any noise.

They still need a CB like no one's business, and absolutely must sign one or two depth OL (or shit, with their OL, the might find a starter during cut-downs).

The Jets definitely need to stop messing with their first round picks. Just pay Williams his bonus THIS year (like they ended up doing with Darnold) and get him on the field. It does nothing to hurt the team's salary cap, but it does hurt Williams when it comes to taxes. Take care of your player! Especially Top 5 players.

Agreed with your thought process as way I was looking at the schedule, first half of season is no question more daunting than 2nd half.

Home games in 1st half of season are Bills, Browns, Cowboys and Patriots whereas Road games are @Patriots, Eagles, Jaguars and Dolphins.

You have to figure if Jets are going to make a statement to the league that they are a team to be reckoned with during the first half of season they need to absolutely beat the Bills and any 2 of 3 you pick between Browns, Boys or preferably the Pats at home which would be 3-1. And than on road you must beat the Fish and steal a game vs either the Eagles or Jags cause you know you aren’t beating Pats in Foxboro.

You do that and are 5-3 and at worst 4-4 with the “easier “ 2nd half schedule....home games vs Giants, Raiders, Dolphins, Steelers and road games vs Skins, Bengals, Ravens and the Bills, you once again have to figure 5-3 is very possible in 2nd half of season with it being realistic as well that 4-4 should be about as poorly as Jets should do.

So all in all with injury gods hopefully smiling upon us and Darnold taking that next step with a lot of Lev Bell in the mix, as I said before no worse than 8-8 and no better than 10-6 should be in cards for this Jet squad.

Giants trading Odell so they can trot out a receiving corps of Golden Tate and Kelvin Benjamin would be something.

I'm calling the police on Dave Gettleman.

I mean totally understand the frustration.

But Coleman should not have been the breaking point. He is as much of a gamble as Benjamin would be at WR 3/4 imo. You were/are hoping to strike gold with either. Benjamin is a good fit because we need a big body WR imo. Eli has always succeeded when he has had one. It obviously didnt workout with Marshall but it could with Benjamin as long as he stays healthy.

On the flip side, we got Peppers to replace Collins and the 1st round pick to help strengthen the D although that is the pick that could have been used for LB or a Secondary piece had they taken Josh Allen with the 6th pick. Thats where Gettleman shouldve been blasted to the moon.

Daniel Jones is not playing this year. He is too raw. So instead of improving your edge rush with Allen which was sorely needed they took a project imo. A project because he is not playing this year. They could have then used the 17th and still traded up to make their defense even stronger. They have the O Line sured up (hopefully) and in theory your offense with Saquan, Shepard, Engram, and Tate should be top half of the league imo.

I dont know what to make of this team. The defense does not have the edge rush capability. Their LBs are still undecided. Carter could be a big player for them. But i do like the Benjamin idea

Kelvin Benjamin is quite literally one of the worst receivers in the league on top of being an insufferable locker room distraction.
