Daniel Jones was ranked 59th by Scouts Inc. Eli is slowing down. Some people are ranking the G-Men 30th. How good will they be?

Lee is basically garbage, Snacks is not.

Jets got great value for a back-up. Legitimately good deal for a reclamation project.
If the Jets couldn't trade Lee, word was they were going to cut him. He's closer to not having a team than starting, in all likelihood. I mean he could turn it around, but his first three seasons aren't encouraging.

Contracts matter. A good player on the wrong end of 30 just doesn't have much trade value unless they are substantially outperforming their contract. Players on rookie contracts are cheaper than veteran backups and have a little upside.

So strange and interesting the value of players, picks and contracts across different leagues. A stud in the NFL not on a Rookie contract can net in a trade a decent starter returned + 2nd overall and it's a 'good trade'. Try something like that in the NHL and you'd be roasted. A 2nd in the NFL has wayyyyyyy more value than a second in the NHL (you want your seconds to make impacts their first season in the NFL, in the NHL seconds are generally 2+ years away if they ever make it at all), which in turn the NHL 2nd rounder seems to have more value than a 2nd in the NBA too where nearly all stars and starters tend to come from the first round.

I think you're missing the point, here. The Jets got something for nothing. The Giants got something for something. The Jets did quite well. People need to not complain.

Lee lost his spot. They spent crazy money on the ILB position. Not a huge fan of that strategy, especially when we could really use some OLB that can get to the QB.

Jets are gonna have the same issues next season that they have in the past. Pass rush will be inconsistent due to a lack of presence on the outside, they lack a 2nd cover corner and that player will be exposed. They will do very well against the run.

It's going to come down to how much Darnold progresses anyway. They didn't really address some of the OL issues they had, maybe that'll come next season.

I really have no clue what you’re really missing, here. The fact that the Jets got literally anything is a victory. That’s the entire point. Lee is trash. He may even be cut during camp.
What surprises me most is that you might actually believe this nonsense. He might have had poor seasons in 2016 and 2017 but he was one of the better coverage linebackers in 2018. He's still on his rookie contract and yet you don't think that rates at least a 6th round pick? I guess whatever fits your agenda.

That depends on whether you believe his improvement last year was illusory or not. I am of the type that believes that. Seems that management does as well.

It's much easier to trade an improving player than a declining one. And using the term "management" when discussing the Jets is clearly a logical fallacy.
No, he's clearly an all-pro LB who was traded for the sake of it.
Yes players are either worthless or all-pros. :eyeroll:

There were plenty of reports that the Jets might cut Lee if they couldn't move him out. That's the only reason I was surprised they got something for him, even if it was just a sixth. They declined his fifth year option which was guaranteed only for injury. They could have paid his tiny-ass salary this year then cut him and had no penalty next year. He CLEARLY was not in their plans, now or next year. They basically did everything they could to eliminate any leverage they would have in trading him.

Since all the other threads are the same thing, other than baseball which sucks for me, just wanted to chime in to offer my observation that it looks like Gregg Williams has gynecomastia.
