Couple of things that I observed during tonight's disaster:

From my eyeballs, it looked like Luke Faulk might end up being better than Siemien. I was pleasantly surprised at his poise in the pocket as he looked alot more confident than Siemien while he was in there. Obviously Jets are going to get blown out next week but as far as the QB position, the difference from Siemien to Faulk to me seems minimal.

My respect for Lev Bell has morphed a hundred times more than I had for him before tonight and that was alot. Even tho we were down by 20 late in the game, this dude was running as hard and with as much passion as I've ever seen him run when he was on Pittsburgh and he's a hell of alot richer too.

This guy is a true professional and he showed me how great he truly is and for him to play so well withought much support from an O-Line which was abysmal has to have shown his teamates as well that this guy is the real deal.

I realize that Gase has had some pretty damn bad luck when it comes to QB's beginning in Miami when Tannehill got hurt and never was on field enough for him to see if he and Gase could work some magic other than Gase's first year down there when the Fish made the playoffs. And now it's happening with him again with the Jets with Darnold's mono.

But I don't see how this guy got this reputation as some QB whisperer and some offensive genius...I just don't. He seems very conservative and very unimaginative for my taste as far as his play calling. I dunno but when Sam comes back and this team doesn't start to score in the 20's on a consistent basis which is what I thought we were getting with him, I think Douglass needs to seriously consider finding a new HC for next year. I hate to say it but that's my thoughts at this time.

There’s not much you can do too creatively to call plays when the offensive line can’t block anyone.

It’s a lose lose situation. You have people saying the jets offense isn’t creative enough “run left right and up the middle” per the athletic article and then you have the same people saying the Giants need to feed Barkley even more. So which is it? Should they be running a ton and feeding bell and getting criticized or passing a ton and ignoring Bell and then getting criticized like the Giants?

anytime you can 1st round pick for Minkah Fitzpatrick in a season where you start 0-2 and lost your starting QB you gotta do it

What are they doing

Unreal that the Jets season has spiraled out of control and is effectively over this quickly. I guess there's always next year...

It’s still infuriating that we traded OBJ for ****ing Peppers and a pick.
JPP - traded for a 2018 3rd and 4th - goes on to have 12.5 sacks with the Bucs
Apple - 2019 4th and 2020 7th - meh, still a garbage player
Snacks - 2019 5th - idiotic trade
OBJ & Vernon - 2019 1st and 3rd, Peppers, Zeitler - moronic

So, Gettleman moves any semblance of a pass rush we had (JPP/Vernon), the best NT in the league (Snacks), lets a Pro-Bowl S walk (Collins), offloads a garbage CB (Apple), and to top it all off, trades a Top-3 WR in the game (OBJ) for a bunch of lesser pieces. Uses those lesser pieces to downgrade Collins to Peppers, drafts Snacks replacement with the centerpiece of the trade (17th OA), and doesn't address the pass rush at all. Also signs known d-bag Golden Tate to try and "replace" OBJ. Known d-bag then proceeds to get himself suspended for PEDs.

Our offense is a joke. Eli is having trouble, and our scrub WR corps can't get open, exasperating the problem. They have the best RB in the league forcing teams to stack the box, and still can't do a thing through the air. OL seems marginally improved.

Our defense is an even bigger joke. You can't just send out a group of youngsters with no plan to insulate them if they fail. Baker, along with the rest of the secondary, are getting torched. I've never seen a D give up so many busted coverages as I did in the Dallas game. It wasn't much better in the Buffalo game. We're getting very little pressure. It's so bad, I can't even tell how much of it is Bettcher. He's blitzing, but nothing is getting home. It's like he has a revolver filled with blanks.

Special teams, amazingly, has been our best unit, after being a joke for years under Quinn.

I was not a fan of the Shurmer hire. But I would like to see him with a QB that fits his system here. Eli just doesn't fit the WCO. He's always been better staying in the pocket and throwing the ball down the field. I think this is the reason why the offense looks so vanilla. A mobile QB should open up some things.

Beckham didn't want to be here.

Week 2 and both NY teams' seasons are already over.

The Dolphins are probably the only worse team than the Giants. Should probably be Daniel Jones time now.

It sucks for the Jets cause the AFC is turning out to be pretty weak this year outside of KC and NE, and maybe Baltimore. Luck and Big Ben going down killed two contenders, and a couple other teams regressed. Wild Cards are going to be up for grabs - not locked in by good 10-11 win teams like last year.

The thing is this stretch was always going to be murder for the Jets. It always looked like 1-5 or 2-4 through 6 games to start. After this they're going to face arguably two playoff contenders out of 10 games (Bills and Ravens). But they'll be 0-6, and aren't going to run off 9 of 10 wins to sneak in.

Best case is let Darnold rest through the tough games. Comes back against Miami 2x, Giants, Bengals, Skins, Raiders, Steelers before Bills/Ravens. Hopefully gets a nice stretch of development and some positives.

Could have just cut him in February, sign a backup to help Jones and take that money and put the rest of the Eli money towards the defense.

Somehow, Giant ownership and management saw a playoff team in the past two off-seasons. I’m not sure what they were looking at.

I would still to the Vernon/Zeitler deal. Just leave the moronic OBJ/Peppers part out.

They were doing copious amounts of peyote.

That seems to be the most likely reason. And yet, if Jones turns out to be the real deal, they have a chance to succeed in spite of themselves. Supposedly, the top of next year’s draft has a few high-end pass rushers.

What a horror show the Giants are.

Way too ealry. They couldve saved 17 mil in cap space if they started Jones week 1. Cmon. They have no direction this team. Zero.

Shoudlve let Eli go a few more weeks until Sheppard and Tate came back. See where the offense (and the o-line) was then and then pull him in week 6-7 to give Jones a few more weeks of watching and learning.

Now you are married to Jones for 14 weeks. Can he take it on? Sure. But if you thought that all along why the f*** was Manning on this team???

Horror show

This is the only silver lining to the season. I don't need to make the playoffs. I just need to see Sam develop.

Really question the move. Seems like a desperate pitch by Shurmur to save his job.

Jones doesn’t have nearly enough help to be put in a situation to succeed. They cant even use Barkley enough because their defense is a turnstile.

Eh, why not get his career started? What’s there to be gained by playing Eli? Find out what you’ve got in Jones, especially when you’re likely headed for another high pick.

What's f***ed up is I have little emotion about this. I felt all that when Eli took a seat for Geno Smith back in 2017 thinking we were nearing the end and Eli has been the starter every game since lol.
