I just hope they're aggressive and get the guys they want. I'd be ok if they used Toffoli to move up. Toffoli and #33 to the Avs for #16 but they would likely want #22.
Yeah this is the move up that would be valuable from my pov. Allot of gain for the 6 slots we move up into from 22. Wouldn’t it be awesome to catch a falling Krebs or some other potential scorer and get Byram?

Dumbest thing in the world to waste a pick on a goalie in first two rounds with Petersen and Campbell here. I can understand maybe using a 3rd but no way I touch Knight with all the other needs.

I'm gonna disagree with you on this one, with a qualifier I think he's a no brainer if he's there at #33. He's the highest rated goalie in the draft. Petersen turns 25 as the season starts. One of Petersen and/or Campbell could be lost in the expansion draft, not to mention we don't know if we can even move Quick at this point (no market). Kings don't have any blue chip goalie prospects after Petersen. GM has to think 3-5 years down the road and "fill in the boxes". In 5 years Petersen is already 30. Seven year gap between Petersen and Knight. If Knight is the BPA at #33, we should take him, particularly is we get an excellent forward and defensive prospect with the first two picks. The reality is I don't think Knight will be there at #33. A lot of rumors Colorado picks him at #16.

there will be high end goalie prospects available in the 3rd round this year or 2nd round next year when LA is hopefully not picking at 33

What would you trade Colorado to swap #4 & #5? Say Chicago picks Turcotte. I like Byram a lot. I would offer the #5 overall and a 3rd round pick to swap spots. Kings have two of those.
I'd swap TT and the 5th for the fourth but if Colorado was willing to trade it's because they didn't were in love with someone else anyways.

Knight is the highest end goalie prospect since Vasilevskiy. There is no other high end goalie prospect in this draft that will be available in the third round. There is, to my knowledge, no high end goalie prospect expected to be available in the second round next year. If Knight is there at 33, you take him.

Avs fan chiming in here real quick....

What would your thoughts be on Toffoli + #22 for #16 + #62?

I personally like Toffoli and think he could have a nice bounce back year towards being a solid ~25G, 45 point guy again and especially if the Avs really decide to be aggressive this summer in persuit of a 2nd line I think Toffoli would be a good complimentary Top 6 piece.

To me that value looks pretty fair. It's essentially the first pick in the 3rd round, + moving up 6 spots in the middle of the draft for Toffoli. That kind of movement in the draft is usually worth a late 2nd so you're essentially looking at a late 2nd + early 3rd for Toffoli.

Thoughts?

I’d do TT & 33 for 16.

I don’t hate it at 33. Depends on what’s available tho.

There is a rumor or two out there that the Avs would perhaps like to move up from #16 to get Newhook.

No idea what the cost would be but we also have two 3rds , one being Ottawa's at 63 so maybe if Byram was there and we could still get or guy at #5 something between Joe and Blake could be worked out . :dunno:

Really hard to say what it would take to move up

Interesting tidbits. Mind you, it is partly speculation based on Byrum not being available.
Now it appears unlikely that impact defenseman Bowen Byram of the Vancouver Giants will still be around at No. 5 – most believe he will be gone by the time the Kings make their selection. (Fans should familiarize themselves with Saskatoon Blades Kirby Dach and quickly find out the correct pronunciation of his name.)

The draft is about selling hope. The Athletic colleague Craig Custance checked in with one NHL scout who compared the power forward Dach to the Ducks’ Ryan Getzlaf. The scout said, ‘…the way he shoots the puck, I see a lot of Getzlaf.’

Still, the consensus among NHL people is that L.A. should not trade that selection.

“The draft is supposed to be pretty deep,” an NHL team scout said.

Said an NHL executive, “I’d keep the pick unless the offer was too good to turn down. They should get a very good young player there.”

The draft really starts with the Blackhawks pick... Should they stray and go with say Cozens or Byram.. then Turcotte could fall to us... The Avs might be tempted with a big body like Cozens or Dach

How do we know both those guys will be here after expansion. The Kings are going to expose a bunch of garbage at forward and defense. It’s likely one of the two could be selected by Seattle in 2021.

Also, keep in mind Campbell is a UFA at the end of next season at which time he will have turned 28. Is it a guarantee he’s even retained IF the Kings still have Quick under contract next year?

I’d be fine with Knight at 33. I’m definitely not sold on Villalta from what I have seen of him the last few seasons in the OHL. Admittedly, I don’t know much about Kehler.

Ingham is a project. Again, has not stood out to me with his play in the OHL.

I know Hrenak plays at St. Cloud State and has some good numbers though in truth I’ve only seen him play once on TV so there is no way can I evaluate him.

I just think totally dismissing a guy like Knight could be short sighted but, what the f*** do I know.

I wouldn't do that Tofolli deal. Still get a good prospect at #22. I'd rather roll the dice on a Tofolli bounce back season and move him during the season/TDL.

I want more picks: not fewer picks but #16 over #22.

I'd prefer not to get Knight at 22. While he is the top goalie prospect in this draft, our depth in goal is the strongest its been in years. I'd take him at 33 for sure, but I think this position is the least of our concerns and look to the later rounds.
