No way in hell Colorado picks Byram right?

You gotta think they go with a forward.

I feel like at the end of the day it's whatever Chicago makes of Turcotte.

Why is it automatic that Colorado goes for a center? They could trade Barrie for a center and go with Byram.
Yeah, I don't get this either. Byram seems like a good fit in Colorado to me. Too many people thinking these kids are going to come in and play next season or the following season. Byram is probably three years away.

Don't think we have Byram top 4 on our list and I believe we are trading Barrie regardless
The Avs are in an enviable position to be sure. I could see you guys taking a future 2C, but I still think Bryam will be the BPA at #4 overall.

Scott Wheeler, the other NHL Draft analyst on The Athletic has 10 players teams should avoid:

Podkolzin(A lot of what he does in a game doesn't impact it positively, feels he could end up a 3rd liner)
Broberg(Doesn't have decision-making to make enough high end plays, makes a lot of mistakes in Offensive Zone)
Soderstrom(May be already reaching a plateau, not a ton of upside, safe but underwhelming in the 20's)
Bjornfort(A 4-5 Dman, not much Offensive upside, limited NHL puck skills, not worth a pick in the 25-40 range)
Vlasik(3rd pairing at best, not much Offensive upside, prone to mistakes)
Gutik(Has a long way to go, a gamble at 45-70, disappears a lot in games and can be ineffective)
Guskov(7th round flier at best, will not be much in the NHL, not talented enough in either zone at the NHL level)
Misyul(Sloppy player who overcompensates for it, not great puck skills,)
Vukojevic(Won't translate puck moving to pro level, benefited more by being bigger that everyone than being good)
Jones(Let's in too many bad goals, mediocre stats)

The BPA theory is broad though. It's the BPA for each team at the pick. The BPA for COL may not be a Defenseman. I was listening to a draft podcast and Pronman was highlighting that. He said the each teams BPA is different a lot of times and people don't understand that one team could have a guy ranked several spots higher than the teams around them because that player is the BPA for them at that stage of the draft.

Perhaps but after some comments made by Hepple, our chief scout, seems like Zegras and Dach on the Avs list but who knows :dunno:

If you're hoping for Byram , seems like a legit chance he's there for you at #5 , that's of course if Turcotte
goes to Chicago at #3 as is being speculated.

Could all be postering , either way draft day is coming soon good luck !

Edit: Bob McKenzie's pre draft show is always a good watch to get the vibes going, I think it's on the 17th but have to double check that.

Jon Rosen this morning on the insider board:

"Byram/Turcotte/Cozens/Dach will be a King."

Reading between the lines based upon the statement earlier in the week that the staff had narrowed it down to two players unless someone fell, you can expect the Kings to take Byram or Turcotte if one of them fall to 5th, and if not my take is they take Kirby Dach, since most profile Cozens to be a winger.

Zegras I would have over 3 of those

I just get the feeling that Dach is their guy at 5. Not so much as he is the best player but because of the Vilardi situation. If Vilardi was healthy, playing and showed signs of top C potential they would of went with Byram (if available) , Zegras or possibly if they had the balls Caufield. Dach feels like a Plan B in case Vilardi is done.

It's a close call for sure, but I think we need a new Kopitar before we need a new Doughty. Too bad we can't have both.
I agree its a close call however i think our defense is more of a need We have a couple of center prospects coming No one with Byrams upside in our system and i say that with respect to Clague and Anderson
