Yet another person who has a history of wildly misevaluating the player and just wants to dump him. That trade would be horrific.

The Ghost hate is real.

all players get hate at some point. I like Ghost a lot but if there is a trade to make this team better trading him you have to do it. What that is I have no clue.
I don’t think he is as bad as folks think he is. I also dont think he is this untouchable player on this team who should never be traded. He is somewhere in the middle

I agree.

Well in fairness, he did say "and we win the trade".

So he at least knows it's in our favour.

Some of the other posts from today are atrocious and not worth commenting on.

you have to think about what's out there and realistically can we get them? i mean i would love to have nylander and kap but if they are not going to trade them, then there's no point. if vet players are the only option out there, then that's what fletch would do.

What? So if only vets are available we should trade Ghost for a Joe Thorton?

He's not gonna trade ghost just for the sake of trading him. He will look for value in return

I do not want Ghost traded till we have some one like York ready to make the step to the show . If that's not for two years so be it . Pulling a cork out of one hole in a boat just to plug another is not productive so why do it .
What a logical way to look at things.

Of course we are soon due to be blessed with someone saying "look at our record without Ghost. He won't be missed"

And then of course, the response will logically be "we won 10 straight games without Couts. Trade him too?"

i know that, but if he’s traded I want it a landslide in our favour.

The Flyers get to protect three defensemen in the Seattle draft. Doing eight skaters instead of 7-3 makes no sense. Obviously two of the three defenseman are Provorov and Sanheim. So the third is Ghost or Myers. Myers the better of the two so he gets protected as well. Do you let Ghost go for nothing in a season or so or do you move him to cure the problem with 3C? Ehlers for Ghost isn’t happening. The Leafs don’t seem to want to move Kapanen for Ghost so the Flyers need to look elsewhere for a trading partner.

OK but the team could be stronger up front. To get that, someone of value has to be moved. The candidates for that type of transaction are limited. I don’t think that anyone favors moving DCs.

We can get stronger up front by calling up Frost. It has the benefit of keeping us from becoming weaker on defense.

Moving Ghost or any dman means Hagg, a contender for worst regular dman in the league, likely becomes a permanent fixture.

For whatever reason, TPTB don’t see Frost as ready. You and I may disagree but they’ve made that decision. If they’re going to keep Frost in LV, they need to find another competent forward.
Ghost is not a bum so whoever the Flyers were to get in a Ghost trade has to be productive enough to balance out Hagg playing every night.

The level of production required to balance out Hagg is extremely high.

Again, what fans see and what TPTB see probably are two different things. Hypothetical: if Lindblom is going to miss the rest of the season and next year as well, does Kapanen or a similar player adequately fill that hole at a performance level that supports playing a Hagg rather than Ghost?

No, he does not. Hagg is a massive blow to the team whenever he plays. That Ghost manages to drag him to something resembling respectability is quite the feat. Hagg without Ghost would be truly brutal. We'd need another transition driver on par with Voracek to counter it. Maybe Kapanen can be that someday, but if you're trying for a win-now move for some reason it doesn't add up to me.
