So Jank and his 3 points in 40 games is ok as a #3C

There's a Secondary Assist in there too, so he's been good for 2 Primary Points. A week ago, he had 1. Similar shooting luck to Subban this year, a favorite butt of jokes.

I'm all for pointing out that shooting luck is what it is. I would just like all of us to be consistent in it. It's a tickmark for both Jankowski and Subban bouncebacks.

Interrupting these messages for an important gif. @Starat327

Carry on folks

My god they are absolutely heavenly.

Many on here don't believe luck is real. It's "just an excuse".

For a very low price, sure, why not. Bunnaman is not an NHL 4C in 19-20.

Maybe Calgary wants to dump his contract/cap hit so they can make another move?

Edit - I looked on the Flames forum, and the name "Wayne Simmonds" comes up a lot.
We would have to get him salary retained and that would cost more of an asset . Our GM has put us up against the cap already so any player aquired will have to have some salary retention in it and that costs way more than what i would be comfortable with giving up . This is not our year to really compete so just standing pat is what i would like to see .

I’m just not sure you can fill that center hole in a smart way at this point without overpaying or a guy who really isn’t good enough to fill the spot in the first place.

It’s tough to plan a proper course for the future with the uncertainty in Patrick. As an organization that question is crucial to any potential trade/plan.

Here you go...Ghost for Pageau+Borkowski

G Frost TK
Farabee Couts Jake
JVR Hayes Raffl
Laughton Pageau Pitlick

Provy Nisky
Sanheim Braun
Borkowski Myers

Then you sign Pageau cuz Patrick is a lost cause, move Hayes to RW next year. oh heel sign Bork too! Myers slides up with Sanheim and Bork protects Friedman.

Nobody has come anywhere close to suggesting the Flyers should give up any assets of significance for Jankowski. In fact, the whole purpose his name has been raised is because he’s a fallback option for NHL center depth that won’t cost anything of value if a trade for a more substantial center can’t be worked out.

Trade Laczynski for Jank since he isn't signing anyways. He plays instead of "Will Robinson" and goes on to play great in the playoffs.

Mangiapane-Lindholm-Tkachuk
Gaudreau-Monahan-Robinson( Laczynski)
Lucic-Ryan-Dube
Bennett-Backlund-Rieder
Jankowski(traded)-Rinaldo

Eh, it would be a minor amount of salary.

The Caps got Hagelin from the Kings for a 3rd last year and LA retained 50% of his $3,750,000 cap hit.

Jankowski is a lesser player whose cap hit is only $1,675,000.

Perhaps the smarter move for this season if they aren’t bringing up Frost is to leave G at center, use Laughton as 4C and try to pick up a 4th line LW on the cheap.

So many great posts. So little time.

To contextualize: who are we acquiring, using assets, that is a better 4C than Raffl or Laughton? They're fine in that role. More likely better than an acquirable veteran, with one leg out the retirement door; or a struggling scrap heap player. I've heard Jankowski, Thompson, Lewis. I've also heard loud gagging noises.

If there's one thing this team has, it's a million average-above average 4th liners. We don't need a worse version. The problem is Laughton and Raffl are both currently in a top 9 winger spot. I'm generally okay with Raffl as a compliment to someone like Hayes given his possession game. But Laughton has been terrible lately, and I just don't like him in a scoring role for a team with playoff aspirations. Even if Giroux sticks at center for the season, Frost is a capable top 9 wing, so I don't want to hear, "8 minutes or bust!" Kicking one of these 4th liners down to the 4th line is easy peasy and helps depth -- cost free.

St Louis winning last year is a thought I think a lot of GM’s will have in their mind.

Anything is possible, and chasing last year’s cup.

St Louis had their talent essentially assembled, and got a boost from a coaching change along with the most important piece of all - a very solid goaltending performance.

Lucked out with an exhausted and beat up San Jose team, and a favourable first round matchup against a mess of a Jets squad.

Stay the course.
Last year was crazy. Leafs and Jets who were among favorites were essentially .500 team since the TDL, same with Nashville. Add in Bolts pathetic first round and you have 4 of the top 5 teams in terms of talent not doing much. Add in the sharks controversial victory over stacked Vegas and Blues had quite a lucky draw. Just like us in 2010, except their goaltending held up.

It’s about adding center depth. Neither Laughton nor Raffl are best used at center. And Giroux is playing C now out of necessity even though he’s a better LW. The fact that Bunnaman is in the lineup tells you everything you need to know about why people have suggested adding another bottom 6 C for depth.

Like causing Patrick to get migraines & signing Hayes who has filled what otherwise would have been a crushing void down the middle?

The problem is he’s being overused. He shouldn’t be in the top 9.
But he was better last year it seemed....actually he was better this year but not since his last injury. Hopefully this break came at a good time for him and he improves.

Regardless, we have Laughton, Raffl, Pitlick and NAK who all should be on the 4th line...but they seem to want to play all 4. Add in Bunny...and that's 5 4th liners or below.

So you want to go on record saying signing Hayes to his deal was a very good thing, correct?

And I was talking about right now obviously since I mentioned Bunny. But you know that and wanted to go a different way.

I'd rather have Raffl on the 3rd line and Laughton at 4C.

While they have struggled at times and both been injured multiple on occasions, I don't buy the idea that the only place Raffl and Laughton should be is the 4th line.

They're producing as well as Caps 3rd liners Panik and Hagelin, who also have longer and more expensive contracts.
