Well the ED is a deadline we have to deal with. And it seems clear they are going with Provy/Sanheim/Myers. So a decision will have to be done.

But I would rather trade Ghost for assets....and lose JVR in ED. And that is 1 issue if you trade Ghost for a forward that needs protecting....it means possibly exposing Lindblom. And I am not sure how that situation is going to be handled regardless.
They could conceivably protect all four defensemen and leave Voracek and JVR available for the ED. I highly doubt Seattle is going to take either of those salaries. Lindblom isn’t likely playing again before the ED is over.

Every time i read a post in this thread

Jeff Carter....the guy who has paced for 36 points the last 1.5 years is no longer a stud.

Maybe we could add to the team...without paying someone 5-8 million?

Carter....stud at a 36 point pace...30 point ES pace.....you willing to trade Ghost for him
Frost....poopoo at a 32 point pace....27 point ES pace....he comes free

Impartial? Hmmmm.

2020....cool...you can see the future? Is Patrick still hurt?
Jeff Carter remains a big, fast, two-way center, great on draws, & is on pace for over 20 goals for as much as you’re trying to discredit his production.

Acting like Morgan Frost is the superior player at the moment is frankly laughable.

But that also means exposing Patrick.

Giroux, Couts, Hayes, TK protected under your option.

So that likely doesn't work assuming Patrick comes back next year.

Jeff Carter is likely to retire if traded.

Jeff Carter is a short-term move for a team seeking to win now. We are not in that position because of Lindblom and Patrick.

Can you point to the part where I said Frost is the superior player?

No need to lie.

Carter himself said that was an untrue report....him retiring if traded.

But you are 100%...if traded, Carter likely goes to a cup contender, not a playoff tweener. For sure that would be his preference if traded. But he wants to stay in LA with his family/kids. Like if SJ/Anaheim were contenders, he would likely be fine with moving....even though he has no say in it.

Hail to the Hall Monitor!

I didn’t say you said Frost was the superior player. I said you were acting like it. Which you were with the ES points pace comparison.

Carter loved it here, he threw a fit when he was traded from here, his wife is from here.... He’d love to come back.

Correct but if Patrick doesn’t play next year, who would be more valuable to keep, Ghost or Patrick? That’s why trading Ghost soon because of the ED draft makes no sense. A lot can happen in a years time.

So how was I ACTING like Frost is the superior player, by using ES point pace comparison, when Carter is pacing for 30....and Frost for 27.

30>27 Well...it is in Canada. Is it different in the US?

I simply was showing the ES points for those who may not know and save time for those who might want to go check.

I PERSONALLY think Carter is better right now. Next year, who knows. But I am not trading away Ghost to find out and what looks like not a huge gap between Frost and Carter. You would.

When is the earliest we can call up Frost with this whole bye thing? Even if we are allowed to I would think they’d have to wait till it’s over and coaches etc are back.

Give me back Carter, Richards, Laviolette, Hartnell, Briere and Gagne. Lets do it.

I agree. I personally wouldn't trade Ghost until after next season....unless the right deal came along.
We can’t even fit Carter’s contract...

They retain and we give them Ghost, silly.

In my OPINION your were ACTING like Frost was the better player, or at least essentially equal. Which ignores Carter’s vast superiority in goal scoring & defensive play. You have now acknowledged Carter is the superior player right now, which I agree with. But it’s become impossible to have a hockey disagreement with you without your turning it into some kind of kindergarten, tattle-tale, gotcha! endeavor.

Hear me out, the flyers know they can’t protect Patrick, and that we won’t win this season so they convinced Patrick years ago to make up a fake ongoing ailment to make Seattle not take him.

That's mighty presumptuous of you unless you've talked to Jeff Carter himself or been inside his head.
Naw...I am sure he has chatted with him. Or maybe his friend did.

It's been 9.5 years since Carter was traded. Maybe he has moved on emotionally and wants to stay where he now calls home, where his kid goes to school, etc....
