Nevermind that Seth Jones was a rookie i beliebe (maybe 2nd year), playing on a team that had a stacked prospect pool coming, which made the trade explainable at the time. Context, however, seemd to be ignored around here.

Seth Jones was midway through his 3rd year at the time. The Predators still didn’t know what they had in him. It was a dumb trade then and a dumb trade now.

It wouldn’t shock me if Ghost is traded this offseason but it’s highly doubtful he is moved now.

Pageau probably not because he’s a pending UFA & I don’t see him passing up on the open market as a C. I don’t think you want to trade Ghost for a two month rental.

Duclair I doubt, as they’re going to prefer a C so G can go back to W, plus Duclair has bounced around a ton, is inconsistent, & has a poor track record of coachability.

Kimmelman on TSN now talking Ghost. Highly doubts they trade him and if they even consider it would be for a young impact player they think they need.

Also suspects Hart will be good to go Saturday at home, but WILL NOT RUSH him.

I don’t think the Flyers would hesitate if Toronto offered Kapanen for Ghost, even though Kapanen isn’t a center.

Reminder, Kapanen "reportedly" is not enough in a trade for Georgiev.

If they are hell bent on trading Ghost, I can live with Kapanen as he helps team speed and helps the PK. I can't see going after KK unless they felt Giroux was going to stay at C all year.

Of course....the issue is always the defense depth if you trade Ghost.

The other issue is defensive "fit" if you trade Ghost, Hagg - Ghost work as the third pair, Ghost - Braun didn't work, but should work, i.e., Ghost's skill set isn't that different from Sanheim, who was a good fit with Braun.

However, Hagg - Braun is a disaster, much like Hagg - Gudas.
So either Friedman would have to replace one of them or they'd have to pick up a LHD who's a better fit with Braun.

So a Ghost trade is highly unlikely for that reason.

at this point im pretty certain knowing this teams luck, we will never see NP or Lindblom again.. and Ghost will be traded for some old washed up plug... cuz #beaFlyer...

I am bracing myself for Fletches 1st "big" trade. If it was for Kap...I could live with it knowing that Kap is young, can still be a 40 point winger, can help the PK, has a good contract and is a RFA when that contract is up in 2.5 years. That's lots of positives and Fletch can do a LOT worse in a trade....and that scenario is what I fear.

But I personally would keep Ghost due to not having an in house replacement and we should not be lessening that depth. But at some point, I do think Ghost is moved but I think the summer is a more likely time for it to happen. But even then....Frost should be on the team and possibly Patrick is back and Farabee is another year older, so why do we need to add a F? Especially when we are opening 1 D spot with Braun likely gone.....or is he re-signed???

I agree with you. Just because Ghost is third pair on this club doesn't mean he is junk. On another club he could be a real value. If Toronto wants Ghost, and they should since he is an up tempo player with term at a position that they have need, could an offer of Ghost and Laughton be enough to nab Nylander from them instead of a straight Kapanen-Gostisbehere deal? Toronto gets a decent forward in return to fill in Nylander's spot and the trade is feasible cap wise.

The point I was making, is that next year, if Patrick is healthy, our top 9 players are set. So he is not a "need". Now of course we could always try and trade JVR to open up a spot.

But on D, we would enter next season with Hagg/Friedman as our 3rd pairing...and Morin as the #7. I don't see that happening so we would be adding a D.

So in the end, we trade a D, to add a F, to trade a F, to add a D. Or....we could just keep the D. But I do think they trade Ghost before next season.

I have actually heard the Oilers and Flyers both with interest. Getzlaf does have family ties to the Philly area, but of course this contractually would require serious creativity. Could Gostisbehere and some salary retention on the Ducks part be a starting point?
