From Meltzer...

Perhaps the most disappointing part of the now-completed road swing was the fact that young players who seemed to be turning the corner during the undefeated homestand -- including first-round picks Morgan Frost and German Rubtsov as well as second-rounder Isaac Ratcliffe -- regressed during the road trip. Kase's play in response to being a healthy scratch for one game was the main highlight among the younger players on the Phantoms.

I get the vibe that the LHV team is a garbage dump right now and players just don't want to be there.

They should be a great place to play and develop with the amount of money the Flyers can pour into it. There is no salary cap on your AHL facilities/coaches/staff/etc. That's an area that you can still bury teams that don't make as much money.

TIL on Twitter that Kevin Labanc is worth a 1st RD pick in a trade. My brain is on fire now

It's honestly some of the worst professional hockey I've ever seen. I don't think they're quite as talented from top to bottom as they were the past couple of seasons, and it's really showing how bad of a coach Gordon is.

I am hoping that TPTB would get together over this mid season break and put someone else behind the bench in LV. If they think that they owe Gordon something for stepping in last year after Hakstol walked the plank, then fine. He’s had his shot back in LV and it hasn’t been pretty. Make him a scout for the rest of the season but get him out of there. IDK if there is enough time in the season left for the Phantoms to nab a PO berth but they need to push for it. The extra games help the prospects future and the franchise’s pocket book and fan base.

I’ve heard for months that OTT is asking for a 1st+a prospect or two for Pageau. Pure Madness for a true talent 3rd line Center.

I think they could get a first possibly but I’d imagine the other parts are essentially of the spare variety.

Hayes netted a first rounder last year but Brendan Lemieux & a conditional 2022 fourth rounder were the other pieces. The fourth rounder didn’t convey as the Jets had to win the cup for it to go to the Rangers.

I’d have to imagine an extension would need to be involved for Pageau to really pull much more than that.

In a sense we’re actually somewhat fortunate Fletcher Holmgren’d himself with cap flexibility heading into this deadline.

Beyond just the coaching and on ice product. It should have as many of the amenities and as much of the staffing as you can get in there. Players should look at it as a premier situation if you can't be in the NHL.

From what I understand, it is. The Flyers/Phantoms never seem to have an issue with signing those veteran AHL players since they moved to Lehigh Valley...unlike when they were in Adirondack.

It's almost like randomly flinging the puck around and hoping for the best barely qualifies as organized hockey.

We shouldve traded 3Couturier for Duclair when we had the chance. Bow that hes an all star, forget it. Duclair for Couturier and our first is a pipe dream at best.
We won 10 games in a row without him... so clearly we don't need him.

We also haven't won a single cup since he was drafted. NOT ONE. The Pens have won multiple, so have the Kings and Hawks. What do they have in common? No Couturier.
So I think it's time we change it up, since it's obviously not working out with him. Try to get a 3C in here to fill that glaring hole, then maybe trade Frost+Ghost+picks for a backup goalie.

When is the last time a team in playoff contention traded away a good dman for depth? Everyone else is usually trying to acquire dmen.
Especially one who can put up 65 points, play the right side, and is on a steal of a contract for multiple years.

Jeff Carter at that time was better than any of the players mentioned in this thread though. He was also extended for a long time on a reasonable cap hit with a pre-2013 CBA contract. Gostisbehere is also better than Jack Johnson was at that time.

Nevermind that Seth Jones was a rookie i beliebe (maybe 2nd year), playing on a team that had a stacked prospect pool coming, which made the trade explainable at the time. Context, however, seemd to be ignored around here.
