Lots of big names today! Excited to see where Pietrangelo and Hall land.

(But actually this is a pretty extensive list - https://www.capfriendly.com/browse/free-agents/2021)

I read an interview not too long ago with Hall and he mentioned how much he enjoyed playing for Krueger, liked his style, demeanor, systems etc. So if the Sabres are realliy interested in becoming a playoff team and keeping Eichel happy, that is an avenue they could pursue. Eichel has shown leadership and having a leader/producer in Hall on his wing, that would help that team.

Pietrangeleo, is harder to call. With the CAP not going up, despite the fact he's said , he will explore all options, it might work to St Louis's favor, with possibly fewer teams having the space to sign him at what he wants. But then again, St Louis has no CAP space , so they'd have to move bodies out to clear the 9M or so needed.
And he'd want to sign with a team that is a good team, I don't see him settling for a bottom feeder just for money.

Sounds like a deal might get done, and the Olympics might be part of it, which raises the question, do they even happen in 2022? I have serious doubts that the summer games will happen next year, and if they don't, I can't see the networks wanting to carry summer & winter in the same year.

I've been on the sign Edmundson bandwagon for a few months now, but what would folks think about trying to pry Zadorov out of Colorado? Brenden Dillon wouldn't be a bad option either, though he's on the older side and I'm guessing will end up with a contender.

If we get by field at the draft. Would anybody be interested in knocking on top of his door and proposing a Turcotte for Sergachev trade ?

They are going to be up against the cap. Is there any way they would do a Sergachev and Palat for Turcotte, Clague and our later 2nd rounder? Or am I way out to lunch.

Palat has 2 years left at 5 mil and puts up 2 points every 3 games while playing LW and Sergachev is a 22 year old LH two way defenseman that has been groomed right and is up to 20 mins a night. He’s slots in to our lineup next to Doughty.

I imagine that Tampa Bay would have a real hard time giving him up, but I also believe they will have cap factors to consider. They have Hedman, McDonagh, and Coburn as Left shot D man signed for next year allowing Clague another development year to replace Coburn at basically no cost. Tampa has very little Defensive prospects other than a right shot Foote.

Sergachev is an RFA and will cost some big bucks.

He is basically three years ahead of where our prospects are. I think it would be a steal if we could land him.
This is a better way to go IMO. The only issue is that TB is in win now mode and would want a good NHL defender coming back to replace Sergachev. Maybe a 3 way deal with Carolina?

DO NOT trade the no 2 pick.

Now imagine how history would have played out had the Kings been successful signing Kovalchuk in 2010 as opposed to 2018.

I've thought about this moment over the past year or so quite a few times and how we probably wouldn't have won our cups had we signed him. I just remember being bummed out that day and reading the trade boards of all the Devils fans tap-dancing on the ceiling and talking shit about LA. I remember being depressed, and the job I had then sucked, being stressed out, and I was in the break room reading how bad we got played and him running off to New Jersey. That depression helped me quit the job I had and find the one that I have now that is just so much better. In a way, that moment helped me find a new career and purpose.

Then the icing on the cake of course was 2012 being able to make Kovy and the Devils eat it in the finals. Like all of us, I was so nervous that destiny would find a way to screw us over despite that year being like the first time in forever where I was confident they could win serious hockey games. I was at a hockey teammate's house for a big finals party for game 1, our whole team was there and about 20 other people, and I was the only Kings fan there and every single person in that house wanted the Devils to win and were letting me know it and then this happened...

One of the best nights of my life. I was the only person to be heard from a two-block radius for the rest of the night after that goal was scored and I knew we had it. The Kings had that *it* factor, I knew it wasn't going to slip away this time. In a way, I can't thank Kovy enough :P I was glad to see him lace 'em up and score a few for the Kings just to get a feeling of the other side of things. Kings fans really got the best of both worlds. We got to see the team lift two cups and then see them suck with Kovalchuk in the correct order.

Any word on when the draft will take place? Guessing sometime in October, after the playoffs are completed (if they’re started).

No dates set yet, but guessing that has to be determined after we have a Cup winner for various reasons, like conditional draft picks being dependent on such results, plus who gets to pick 31st and 30th.

If we have a season, we can expect the draft sometime during the (which typically is a friday-saturday event), and assuming the playoffs go the usual ~2 months (which would end around October 14), We can expect the NHL playoffs to start on the weekend of Oct 16-17 (NBA Draft is Oct. 16) or Oct 23-24. I believe we will see Round 1 Oct. 23 and Round 2-7 Oct. 24.
