IIRC I won a bet with some insane King fan that Klatt wouldn't score 20 goals. Being an Esa Tikkanen fan I watched a number of Canuck games in that time and Klatt was shot the season before scoring 16 goals AND his career high was 24 goals. Like taking candy from a baby.

At least Klatt proved to be more serviceable than crap like Steve Heinze and Erik Rasmussen, who management tried to pass off as top six forwards.

Klatt was just three goals shy of 20, and he wound up playing on the most consistent line with Derek Armstrong and Luc Robitaille, because the supposed top line of Palffy with Stumpel and Straka missed over 100 games combined due to injuries.

Robitaille being the top scorer with 51 points shows how bad things were. The most surprising thing about that season was that Andy Murray kept his job after only winning 28 games.

Some teams and some names to keep an eye on who are going to be facing a salary cap crunch.

Of course the Maple Leafs are on that list. I imagine resigning Kyle Clifford will be low on their list of things to do. That’ll affect the King’s conditional draft pick in 2021, which would stay a 3rd rounder. There’s also the possibility of the Kings resigning Clifford in the off-season. The Kings obviously loved Clifford, and he wouldn’t be pricey.

Hopefully the Leafs do see value in Clifford and retain him, as I could see them shedding one of their more expensive wingers in favor of retaining a few others.

Tampa Bay definitely has to make some cost cutting moves, especially with Anthony Cirelli, Mikhail Sergachev and Erik Cernak all set to become RFAs.

What do we do with Iafallo? Trade him or pay him?

His p/g are solid, he would have hit about 20 goals 30 assists over a full season. Thats going to cost 6-7M+? Hayes got over 7 for about the same. Could Blake get him longer term for under 6m because he likes the beach life?

Or do we use him as a trade chip come this summer for one of those cash strapped teams? Give them a solid player for a LD?

I know it's at least partially because of the pandemic but the schaudenfraude of all these internet GMs who were mocking LA and Chicago talking about Phoenix, TBL, Toronto et. al. as the 'new models' of success is glorious.
And none of these Teams have won anything yet. At least LA and CHI had some Cups and Ended up paying for them. I’ll definitely take the latter.

Iafallo won't command more than TT's bridge contract. Although he's trending up, it's not enough to overcome his lack of real track record.

Keep iafallo. Gift him a bridge contract. I am not sure any of the prospects are ready to step into the 1LW spot.

We also have to expose 2 forwards for the expansion draft. Carter and Brown deserve to finish out their contracts as kings if they want. They also are useful mentoring the new players.

I know the kings talked about the need for a LD which possibly could be Edmundson.

If that doesn't work out (he signs somewhere else) then how about another go with Fantenberg. He's a known quantity, should be cheap, and if he is signed for 2 years, he would fit the exposure requirement for the expansion draft.

I don't remember him being a tire fire. Or do I have the memory of a goldfish? I didn't watch the Canucks enough to see how he played this season.

I prefer him to Joakim Ryan for sure and personally I prefer him to Hutton but he doesn't have any business on anything but a bottom pairing, he's just lefty Peter Harrold/Jamie McBain.
