Turns out you can make it to NHL with just 1 points in 58 QMJHL games

I’ve seen him a few times now. He is really starting to adjust to NA but he never looks for offence. I like his progression as he was very young and raw when drafted. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t add a little offence next season but I’d also be surprised if he hit 30 points.I believe he's been a healthy scratch in Junior this year
Look at Chandler Romeo, he was a very physical 6'6, 210 lb D taken in the 7th round by us in 2021. His 18 year old season he had 2g, 16a 18p and 100 PIMS. Eliasson hasn't looked much/any different than he did that season.
His skating is definitely good for his size, as is his physicility, but hasn't looked too hot.
At the same time, obviouslty 20+ years ago, Methot was only putting up 11 and 16 point seasons.
It's hard to make it when you're inept offensively at the CHL level. Your much more so the exception.
Since last weeks monday update he has played 2 games and had zero pointsNo Montgomery updates in a awhile
Back to being a bust!Since last weeks monday update he has played 2 games and had zero points
Reminds me of Ben Roger, another guy taken quite a bit higher than expected. Roger being moved from a team competing midsseason is obvioulsly something that isn't happening here.Even if Eliasson was trending we're still talking about someone who is a 2029-30 roster hopeful, maybe even later. Yes he was a 2nd rounder but I wouldn't waste too much time on detailed assessments, especially with regards to point totals. This is a long term project and all you want to see is basic improvement at each level and then hope that the curve is still rising well into his AHL career.

Had size and skating, taken very high because of the hope/projection he will develop the other areas of his game, and either way will have his skating and size to fall back on. Eliasson has the meanness and physical side that we obviously place a ton more value than the majority of the league.
Lacks skill and hockey sense
Will be interesting to see how he's able to develop over the next season. Would not be surprised if he's moved to open an import spot in the Summer, similar to this year when he was with Niagra, after the Ice Dogs picked up Lashko off waivers from the Q (even though they're only currently using 1 spot)
Yeah I mentioned that Eliasson had the meanness and physical side. He’s got some fine tools, but so far doesn’t have any/much of a toolbox. And that’s the one thing that I feel is the hardest to develop, by a gigantic margin.Ben Roger didn't have the physicality, though. He was a very vanilla player, from what I remember. Of past Sens prospects, I see Eliasson more like a less physically developed Andreas Englund. Pure raw tools.
I really wasn't expecting a whole lot from Eliasson this year. He was never going to have big counting stats, besides PIM. The fact that he hasn't been suspended for half the season is a win in itself. He's super raw, very young for his draft class, and had to adjust to North America. The hope is that he takes a step next year in the OHL and then is ready for the AHL the season after that. Best case scenario, though, I think it still takes him a while.
Honestly the progress he has made is quite impressive. Next year should be the key indicator of his development. He was so ridiculously raw at the start of the year it’s crazy.Yeah I mentioned that Eliasson had the meanness and physical side. I can’t imagine he’s in the AHL in 2 years, I’d imagine he’ll be back in Europe or staying as an overager in the CHL, his draft status lets us hold off on signing him until after his 20 year old season.
I don’t see too much to be hopeful for, personally, picks like this almost never work out for the betterHonestly the progress he has made is quite impressive. Next year should be the key indicator of his development. He was so ridiculously raw at the start of the year it’s crazy.
