The full on lose every game tank isn't necessary. The current lottery has made that almost irrelevant. The only thing finishing 31st gives you is you can only fall to 4, when almost inevitably some other team passes you.

Yet again, twitter is why we can't have nice things. If those hashtags didn't start back in the day, the league probably doesn't have a 3 team lottery.

Same.

Lafreniere is scoring at a Crosby pace right now in the Q. He’s a generational talent, and we need to do everything in our power to draft him.
I got to see Lafreniere in the Summer Showcase and he played with Veleno & Dach. You can see he was better of the 3 players on ice.

LeBrun: Committed Drew Doughty and Anze Kopitar remain key...

TORONTO — This isn’t what Drew Doughty and Anze Kopitar signed up for at the time.

“Obviously when I was re-signing we didn’t ever think we’d do this rebuild,” Doughty said Monday after practice. “We’re not too happy we have to do it. But it’s the way things have come. We have full faith in Blakey, and full faith in all the players in this room. We’re going to get back to where we were one day, just we can’t rush it. We need to trust the process. We have to play with the cards we’ve been dealt here.”

Generational no, he's no Crosby or McJebus...he's more John Tavares maybe even Drai

I think Lafreniere is definitely better than Drai. Maybe not Tavares. Hard to compare. But if you remember, the Tavares hype was through the roof after his 70 goal season in the OHL. He was a very, very hyped prospect.

If Lafreniere cracks 170 or even 160 points in his draft season, that puts him in a super exclusive group of players, and he will get the same amount of hype Tavares did, maybe more.

The closest comparable stat-wise is definitely Crosby. Crosby had 172 points in his draft year in the QMJHL.

Mario Lemieux had 272 points lmfaoooo

It's still early in the season, so projections are swinging wildly from game to game. But Lafreniere has bounced anywhere from a projection of 178 points to 145 points. Even landing toward the lower end of that spectrum, and he would still be a more valued prospect than Hughes/Kakko were this past draft season.

last year he was one of few bright spots on D. This year he has been very disappointing, although I am not sure what he would look like paired with better talent than he currently is. Always liked him for Montreal and not sure why.

The Habs top 3 better be very good if Martinez is in the top 4. That's always been the case. Since Martinez has had to be a top 4 for the Kings, they have 1 playoff win in 5 years. That's not his fault, he's just not a true top 4 guy. He can do it short term, and can even play the right side well for a game. In terms of consistency though, he's a left side d-man, who should be on a 3rd pair. Again, unless the 3 ahead of him are exceptional.

Kings can’t afford to deal Martinez. It’s basically Doughty, Martinez, Hutton and then a huge drop off. Walker is having a great sophomore year, Roy started off horrible and has been okay, MacD is proving he is better than we expected and Ryan is mostly a healthy scratch. But really, there are three legit NHL top 4 D.

Martinez is no longer Legit a top 4 D, and was only ever one for a short time. He’s a no5 and struggling to maintain that level. I think he’s suffering from the lack of quality D around him, more than the other more experienced guys.

I’m not a Forbort fan but if he comes back 100% fit he will become either our 2nd or 3rd best blue liner (between him and Hutton), which tells the story of where we are at. It’s also why I don’t agree with the criticism Doughty gets as he’s doing it more or less on his own.

Of course they can. He's not coming back after next year anyway. The roster today doesn't matter. They have so many random d-men, that you trade Martinez if the deal is right, call up LaDue, stick him in there somewhere, and who cares.

Kings are in a rebuild. Of course they can.
