I think some fans are going to be disappointed when Blake doesn't trade half the roster and immediately replace them with prospects.

This isn't soccer where you can overhaul a roster in 1 or 2 transfer windows. It's a process and will take a few years.

Impending ufa's will likely be moved. I'm thinking Toffoli, 1 of Clifford/Lewis, and 2 of Hutton/Martinez/Forbort/Ryan. Ideally Campbell will play well and be moved. Same for Kovy if we retain 50%. 4 to 6 players max this year. Kovy, Martinez, Campbell and Iafallo can be moved the following year if still around.
I be completely shocked if Clifford is moved Campbell as well.

From managements comments on Clifford a short time ago on the state of the kings, I don't think Clifford will be traded.

I don't think Campbell will be traded this season. His contract is one year too long if that was the plan. Also especially considering the expansion draft. Who would the kings expose? Quick? what if he then gets picked? The kings would then have at the goalie position a combined 11 games current experience with Petersen and Villalta.

The funny thing about Clifford and Lewis being the heart and soul of the Kings and leading the Kings youth is both have been around the entire time the team has gone into the toilet. The team clearly needed a heart and soul transplant, yet they remain. Also, I've never heard either player mentioned in an interview by former or current players about what either brings to the locker room. Are these 2 players big ra ra guys? Are they calming influences? I saw Matt Greene making guys laugh in interviews, I saw him block a shot with his face.

I'm pretty sure I've seen Clifford eat a small child

Clifford-Lewis-Amadio has been arguably the best 4th line in the league on top of the intangibles.

"yeah but they've been here too long" is a pretty flimsy reason to misdirect anger towards guys that are actually performing when there's plenty of real stuff to be upset about. Don't need to chase ghosts too.

I am still upset at Clifford's lack of a response in an 8-2 game.

I think Clifford and Lewis, more than any other guys on the roster, are the kind of teammates that can help kids mature. Teach them how to be professionals. I know it sounds dumb, but these kids are still just kids. Even basic stuff like eating right, training hard, and studying might not be natural for everyone on the team. A lot of them have gotten by on talent alone, but a lot goes into being a professional hockey player. I think that’s where Lewis and Clifford fit. It helps that they’re good fourth-line players on cheap contracts.

Is it possible to not have a designated scapegoat this season, especially considering the long process ahead.
Actually I'm referring to Kempe. Except for Doughty, Kopitar and Brown most, if not all, of the veterans will be gone by next season anyway so harping on them is to be expected.

Why? What purpose does it serve to complain about guys that are going to be gone? Makes as much sense as ragging on someone on with terminal cancer.

Totally unrelated but seeing Kakko's first goal reminded me how sad it is that there is absolutely nothing about Vilardi anywhere. Damn shame.

Well if you want to feel worse then just know Vilardi is the same level of talent ... arguably better all around offensively:ha:

Better than Kakko? What?!
No what, he’s that good and better offensively.. Defensively, Kakko’s obvious speed advantage will always make him the better defender..
Now, seeing how you ended your comment with a exclamation let me reiterate that Gabriel Vilardi is indeed the caliber of player Kakko is when both were drafted...

I still think the Kings are missing a Top4 RHD **cough** Voynov **cough** from having a good defense. Which would help the goalies.

Hutton--Doughty
Martinez--XXX
Forbort--Walker

Voynov was trash his last 2 seasons before Tyson-ing his wife! Go back and look at the games, he was a TO machine and his defensive game was declining.. The style of game the KINGdom played during their reign had a heavy tool on the small guys on the team..
Marty is going to the Right if Mikey comes up unless of course he's traded which he should be as should Hutton.. We could get a really nice haul for both and thats not including Toffoli and Lewis who look much better this season.

McLellan said he doesn’t want to scratch young players but Grunstrom sits again. Why not call up Mario Kempe and keep him sitting if this is the case?
If grundy was to replace anuon for me it would be Kempe whose sucked absolute ass this season.. we knoe taht ain't happening though, so who sits? Carter maybe but they wont do taht to him, at least not yet. The guy needs to be in Ontario getting top line minutes for sure..

I see a lot of comments on Kempe, such as, "why is he on the power play?" (Besides questions like, "why is Adrian Kempe at all?" ;)) I read an article that said MacLellan seemed to be making Adrian Kempe a special project. But I'm not sure if many others saw it (and I can't seem to find it).

I think this is part of the experimenting / learning the players that we're going to be seeing this year. This season is a write off, why not spend the effort to see if we can maximize the potential of a young first-rounder or find the right role - whether we keep him or trade him? I assume moving him to wing - as many suggest - will be part of the process down the road if TMac can't get him where he wants as a center.

Pretty sure that was said on the pre-game show before the first game of the year.

That would explain it.

If his Hockey IQ isn't up to par, then it's going to take him longer to figure out TMac's system I suspect, and (as everyone has suggested) playing wing should further simplify it. We've got nothing but time this year, so f*** it. If he costs us games, it's still worth it if we can get him on the right path.
