I'd like to see Kempe on another team. I don't think he is gonna ever be what we hoped
Hey LT Dan, Kempe was always expected to be a 3rd liner. There were always questions on his ceiling because of his IQ. That doesnt mean we should cut him off the team like your legs. I think he'd be a great winger with Lizotte at center and Iafallo as the other winger.

Not every boat will survive a storm, only the occasional Jenny will survive the storm and dominate the fishing industry

I think his hockey IQ is fine.. just not at center. Many people here have not seen him play a stretch of games at wing. He’s feisty in the corners, and loves to just blow up the ice on wing. When he plays C, he has to overthink the game. It’s not natural to him. It’s like having Mcdermid play C.

Is it possible to not have a designated scapegoat this season, especially considering the long process ahead.

I don't think anyone is blaming Carter for anything. Just pointing out that he is a 4th line player at this point in his career and it's nice to see a coach finally put him there.

I don't know a single person who likes the current Kings jersey and logo. Do they not do any kind of fan outreach when they decide on stuff like that?

Amen to this. Jersey is meh but the CREST is just brutal.

If it's scapegoating, it's the one big ball of scapegoats of anyone left from 2014. Other than maybe Clifford, although there's no reason to keep him either, simply because he has the tattoo. Everyone wants to move on from 2014, but nobody can. Everyone can't be bought out. Very few can get traded. One way or another, it's going to be a slow, methodical, multi-year process. Have to wait until deadlines to trade UFA's. Have to wait until the last year of a contract until you can dump a guy. If you're trading a bad contract, you have to take back a bad contract.

The cap makes everything very procedural. Before the cap, you could clean house. Send 15 guys to the Flyers, Rangers, Wings, and Leafs, and call it day. The cap prevents that. Game by game, year by year, all you can really do is chip away. Every once in a while, maybe you get lucky, and there's a real momentum shifting trade made, but if you're rebuilding, nobody wants your crap. Nobody can afford it. Jeff Carter on the Leafs 4th line if this was 2000? Hell yeah, it would've already been done. Maybe even add Kovalchuk as a throw in just because.

We can't stop talking about the 2014 players though, because they're still here.

Yeah I'd like to see Kempe on Kopis wing.

Agreed. I fear that someday Kempe will be traded, because he just can't eclipse 15 goals and hit 40 points even...but then goes to another team and puts up 20 goals and 50 points.
And worse, the Kings do not get a very good return for him.
I think BEFORE this ever happens, put him at LW1. If he can't out-produce Iafallo there, then there's that. But I think there's a good chance Kempe puts up better
numbers than Iafallo and Iafallo is as successful on line 2 and actually HELPS line 2 become something like Iafallo /Amadio / Toffoli and actually does well.
Every year, Kempe is scoring 7 or 8 points at the Worlds on Team Sweden and his name is up there with other top Swedes in the NHL. Why? He's playing
with more high skilled players than he does on the Kings. If he played LW1 and had less C responsibilities, this would be his best opportunity. If he had
at least 10 games there and still cannot produce...well, at least you know he is no better than Iafallo as LW1. There's a decent chance he starts scoring
some goals with Kopi and Brown. It's not like Iafallo should be cemented there.

I said this in the GDT. Carter is no longer a must play. He belongs on the 4th line and it's good to see that's where he is. And if he is a liability there he belongs in the pressbox.

He is one of the worst players on the team.
Kempe getting benched?
