Carolina is notoriously stingy with trading high picks, though. The highest they've traded in the last couple of years was a 3rd and they received a 4th in return. Have to go back to 2017 when they acquired TVR and a 7th for a 2nd. I'm sure they'd love to trade for TT and Martinez without giving up anything of note, but that's not going to be the case, so hope Blake doesn't blink first, because CAR will go straight through the deadline before you pry that pick from their cold dead hands if history is any indication.

Weird because you would think their window is starting to open but eh.

true but Waddell has only been there since 2018 and they have a new owner that wants to win now. Their cupboards have never been so full and as you said their window is open.

I could absolutely see them dealing one of their first rounders...however not sure if it will be for anything LA has to offer. Maybe Williams can sell their management on Martinez.

I don't know about resigning TT. Kind of mentally moved on. He's really not very good. But if it has to happen, he sure as hell doesn't get a raise or any form of a NMC. You resign him because his price would be too low not to. I don't know, not a fan of the guy. Hope for a better player to take his spot.

The Kings already got the career year out of TT at 23 years of age. Now at 27 and by no means a player who lives in the gym I'd steer far clear of giving Toffoli a dime. 7 points on the PP, sitting at 31 points and a minus 7 this guy has done NOTHING to deserve an extension from the re-building Kings.

I don't think most are saying extension, but a trade than sign as UFA wouldn't be tow worst thing to me depending on length of that UFA deal.

Toffoli will obviously be traded and if he were to return to the LA area.... it would be as a Duck!

I think Toffoli might be better off on another team in a media heavy market. It would put his feet to the fire. Here he is anonymous. Somewhere else he may not be able to take his dog for a walk due to snow or fans bothering him telling him about how they used to play and this is what he needs to do to be more successful.

Sign and trade!! But really, I'm done with Toff. I would try to send him somewhere where he has a real chance of staying and resigning and add a conditional pick for it.

Lets talk about Cal.

He's a stud of a goalie, and I think he will take over the net by next season. With the way he plays he's going to be able to steal games for us. Cal might just be the thing that pushes Quick to be better, a duo of them trying to take control of the net could be amazing for the teams future.

I can't wait for that to happen and it will be great for the team, NEXT SEASON. A combo of our goaltending stepping up, (hopefully) offloading some vets at the deadline, and giving the kids chances to come up and have a taste, we might start winning more games this season. I could easily see us going over .500 the rest of the way out and that might f*** up the chances of a higher draft spot.

There is very little chance that Blake will sign TT. Everything about Blake right now is him moving guys for future assets.
Everything?

It has been perfectly clear that this was the only road to follow throughout Blake's tenure, yet he has only made two trades of prominent veteran players for future assets.

Let's hope for the best, but wait and see.

I swear to the hockey gods if I hear one poster complaining about Toffoli scoring 25-25-50 on another team next year after the constant thrashing he's taken here I'm going on a pistol whipping rampage
I wouldn't care if Toffoli scores 30 goals, he was never going to do it here, and the Kings aren't going to win jack during the rest of his useful hockey career.

Cal Petersen and his dog spot were fun to watch last night. The future is so bright that I gotta wear shades

on a short term why not? There should still be roster spots open for some prospects

He is the country club, beach surfer culture Dean tried so hard to avoid. Where is paying a soft, one dimensional scorer going to get us for the next couple years?

I hope he does score 30 for another team, but there is no reason to bring him back.
