Blake needs to send a highlight package of Toffoli to other GMs, pump up that trade value.

Whatever happened to that Toffoli who would cut to the middle of the ice? Even Carter looks like a different player.

Pretty good read

NHL trade-asset tiers: Buyers guide to the deadline

Jeff Carter, C, Los Angeles Kings

Stats: 57 GP | 16 G | 9 A | 25 P
Contract: $5,272,727 AAV, UFA in 2022, no trade protection
The 35-year-old center is having his best season in three years, which isn't saying much considering he has a minus-3.1 goals scored above average. His best offensive years are in his rearview mirror, but if someone wanted him and the Kings were willing to take on part of that cap hit, we're sure GM Rob Blake would listen. (One of those teams that kicked the tires, reportedly is Carter's former team, the Flyers.)

Trevor Lewis, LW/RW, Los Angeles Kings

Stats: 43 GP | 3 G | 5 A | 8 P
Contract: $2 million AAV, UFA this summer, no trade protection
A versatile part of two Cup-winning Los Angeles teams, the 33-year-old has just 20 points in his past 87 games and is averaging 11:48 per game, his lowest time on ice since 2011.

Tyler Toffoli, LW/RW, Los Angeles Kings

Stats: 56 GP | 14 G | 16 A | 30 P
Contract: $4.6 million AAV, UFA this summer, no trade protection
The 27-year-old wants to remain with the Kings, and it's good to want things in life. The reality is that he's a player several teams are interested in -- the Penguins and Bruins among them -- and Los Angeles would be best served collecting more assets for him at the deadline. He has real value as a top-six winger.

Alec Martinez, Los Angeles Kings

Stats: 39 GP | 1 G | 7 A | 8 P
Contract: $4 million AAV, UFA in 2021, no trade protection
Martinez is better than a lot of the rental options, both in the way he plays and the fact that teams that trade for him get another season at a very reasonable cap hit. He's past his peak as an NHL defenseman, but he's a veteran with two Stanley Cup runs to his credit who can bolster anyone's top four.

I would be shocked if Carter went back to the Flyers tho

I think Martinez's utility is being undersold, he's one of the most versatile defensemen in the league. Most depth guys are specialists one way or another and if they dont' fit as planned they get banished; almost everyone has a role Martinez can fill, whether it's PP, PK, defensive, offensive, either side..

Agree, and also for any play0ff team, esp the ones who have not been able to go deep, he has been thru every playoff war, multiple game 7's, OT's, OT's in game 7's, etc. That is the type of resume you can't overlook.
The Canes and Pens are 2 teams that are looking and I think he'd be a good fit on either, esp the Canes.

Those 1sts in discussion belonging to Carolina and Tampa are currently 30th, 21st, 20th, and 19th. Even with retention I don't think Martinez is appealing enough to get higher than Tampa’s pick at 30. And I don’t know what Tampa’s plan is going forward, they may feel set at D between Foote’s development and the usual bargain bin signings they manage. So maybe no fit there. Carolina seems in more need, but would they risk a 20ish overall pick on two playoff runs worth of Alec Martinez?
because we ask nicely

LOL
This may point to a larger problem regarding the culture. One might think a 27-year old professional hockey player would be excited about leaving a team that is almost DFL, and going to a team with a chance to win a Stanley Cup. The beach will still be here in May, Tyler.

Frk has been recalled to the Kings.

Probably way too soon for this but its valid...
With Jay Bouwmeester having a cardiac issue and likely about to miss substantial time. How does that impact the value of Marty.. maybe a 1st still isnt in play but what about a Kostin or Kyrou.. They've pretty much mentioned that they're in the business of winning right now...

I know it sounds sinister but the blues are in win now and have only a couple weeks till the deadline. Armstrong needs to do what he can business wise and remove the emotion from it.

What is going on in the Forbort situation? He practices every day now. Didn’t look bad in 8 games. UFA they should trade. And they bury him in the closet? Seems dumb to me. The only plausible explanation is he is close to being traded? Maybe with another Kings player in same deal. Thoughts?

I was surprised he wasn't playing, the only thing I was thinking was that maybe he is still having maintenance issues with his back. I don't get it either. One thing for sure is though that Kings cannot move every vet on the left side, someone is likely going to be retained plus they have to field a roster the rest of the way.

Blake should hold on to Toffoli and Marty until the bidding war escalates - there's not a whole lot out there and a lot of teams are still willing to spend since they are in win now mode.

I think he'll consider all optoins and wait to see what Bouwmeester decides to do. He's got a young family to consider and has had a good career. He might decide to retire. Maybe Armstrong then isn't shopping for a rental. But it will be on his plate, between now and the deadline.

They needed a Automated external defibrillator to revive him, meaning he had no pulse and was not breathing. I'd be shocked if played again this season.
