Nichushkin was pretty awful last season in Dallas and I believe he was bought out by them. Sakic took a flyer on him and he’s been alright this year. He had a pretty good stretch of games recently but outside of that he’s been pretty mediocre.
Donskoi was an UFA signing and never had scored more than 15 goals in a season coming into this year. If I’m a free agent, I’m likely to choose Colorado as they are an up and coming club over LA who isn’t in a position to succeed for sometime. Kings haven’t always had the most successful dealings in the free agent market.
I would suspect if those two were in LA, they would be struggling. I don’t believe they would be any better than what we currently have.
The one I do agree with you on is Burakovsky. Classic example of a guy needing a change of scenery and an opportunity to assert himself into a bigger role with expanded minutes. Just never seemed to get that shot in Washington. Sakic paid a 2nd and 3rd and took a bit of a gamble which has paid off in spades.
Burakovsky is a talented player and is starting to understand the league better at 24. He should be a 55 point player this year with the potential to maintain that going forward with the Avs.
Would have been tough to pay that price the Avs paid to acquire him.
Hello - this was a great and in depth response and deserves a reply from me....sorry, on this day, my brother face timed our mother in the care home she was at last 18 months in Monrovia...
and he wanted me to see how bad she had turned, since Christmas...so I got an emergency flight out to LA and from Denver and made it by 36 hours, to her passing. (I saw your response, but had to go to airport)
It is horrible for all of us...but I got to be by her side and she was coherent until 7 PM Tuesday...and faded and was pronounced dead at 10 PM. The best mom ever and
a generational human being - a level above Kyle Clifford....I would say. She loved everyone and loved well. Argh. never seen so many people cry.
Um...hard to read this response again, but you are accurate...should be noted, that despite Nichushkin doing nothing for the Stars, the Avs had to have seen him in Russia
and thought highly enough to sign him...so kudos to them. Think he's had 8 or 9 goals last 27 games, after a slow start.
I hope to be back posting soon...had to fly back to Denver and work today...only to fly back with my sons and daughter in law to LA again nest Wednesday for the funeral.
