Question is what are they willing to give up in return? I like the picks but would also like a young roster player with some upside as opposed to recovering from an injury or needing a change of scenery.

I feel like for some of the names available, extracting a lottery ticket is good enough for any player who has no future here.

Very unlikely they'll get that for what they have to offer in a trade though. The only assets the Kings have that could bring back young roster players with upside are the younger assets. Especially the ones that haven't really played in the NHL yet, if at all. Blake's not working with a 26 year old Mike Richards. You don't get young slam dunk roster players for 30+ year olds or rentals. The contender is trying to add to the young roster players with upside.

I think this year might be worse than last year.

Kovy moves on and humilities the Kings with his play.

Worse record.

Pearson having a great year.

Kuemper is basically the number one in Arizona now.
Our schedule is pretty rough this month too. I wouldn't be surprised if we only win two.

Oh that Tanner Pearson bum. Guy would be our 2nd leading scorer and has one less goal than Kopitar.

I said it before this is the first time since I was a fan in 1992 that I have skipped multiple games. This team is boring. There are no exciting players on the roster, they aren’t tough, they aren’t skilled. Boring.

As a Kings fan for 28 years, I would estimate this is the 3rd rebuild (post Gretzky trade and first few years of Lombardi) and I would have to say the worst.

He wasn't an asset for the Kings. When they gave him all the time and linemates he wanted, the team still sucked. If he was still here, in whatever capacity, the team would still suck. They're dead. Montreal is even living off OT/SO wins. 5 of the 9 wins with Kovalchuk fit that category. Hooray, black hole. Even if things went perfectly with Kovalchuk, the Kings had a ceiling. Maybe push a 1st round series to 6 or 7 games.

The Kings had a couple OT wins with Kovalchuk too. Put some of those pictures up. He looked happy then.

It was a bad signing. Any time you have to bribe a guy with another year, you know your situation isn't the best. It was a desperate signing. But I guess the daily Kovalchuk report will be held every day for the rest of this season. At least, if not also next year when he signs somewhere.

And of course, March 17th is going to be insufferable.

As long as Brown and Carter are in the lineup there was no room for Kovalchuk or any other potential solution for this teams scoring issues going back to 2016.

Wasn't Pearson part of that new wave that never materialized? Wasn't he soft here? He just looked soft. Looked like the beach. Wonder what some posts had to say in that first month or so of 18-19. I'm sure it was Pearson is a building block. But yeah, now it's time to lament his loss as well. The Toffoli ones will be good in the future as well. The ones I can't wait for though, are Forbort. As long as the Kings are terrible, you know that's coming. If we can do it with Purcell, we can do it with anyone.

He'd have to score first, which he couldn't , even in a women prison with a fist full of pardons. Do you not remember how bad he was before being traded TWICE in the same season? He couldn't score with Crosby or Malkin either.

9 goals in half a season with Pittsburgh, on pace for 18 over the course of a full season. That would've been his 2nd highest goal total as an LA King.

And it's a cascading series of events. They bring in Penner. He stops scoring. Kopitar gets hurt, and it's obvious they can't go very far with Stoll as the #2, so they get Richards, and have to get rid of Smyth because he wants to cry. That leaves a hole, which is filled by Gagne. Gagne gets hurt, and the hole is still there. They bring in Carter. Then after 2013, Brown stops scoring, so they get Gaborik. Because Brown still couldn't score, they have to keep Gaborik. Pearson gets hurt. They lose Williams, so Lucic is brought in. That finally bumps Toffoli up to 30 goals. Then Gaborik gets old, Toffoli gets hurt, and Pearson isn't a 1st line guy. Brown finally comes back from being in Sutter's hell, but Carter goes down, and there's never enough offense around at the same time. Then they want Pacioretty, settle for Kovalchuk, and then the dam finally crumbles under the weight of time.

The last time the Kings had 5 guys with 20 goals? 10-11, and that doesn't include Penner. That was with Mr. Terry "Stifle Offense" Murray. But he was also working with a young Kopitar, Brown, and Doughty back then.

So True....and Dominik Kubalik, with 21 goals, would lead the Kings.

Forgot about Kubalik.

Also, they say we have the best prospect pool. Okay, they aren’t doing anything in the NHL right now.

Turcotte didn’t blow anyone socks off recently at WJ and is only 18. Kupari wasn’t tearing up the AHL, granted he’s only 19 and looks like McLuvin in street clothes. Vilardi is just back from what could have been or could be a career ending back injury and has been inconsistent. Clague is not a game changer, Bjornfot is only 18. There is no Mitch Marner or Mathew Tkachuk in this group.

We are stuck with Roy, Walker, Amadio, Wagner, Lizotte...all decent or mediocre prospects or young players.

I also honestly don’t see Vilardi, Turcotte or Kupari contributing for 2-3 years from now maybe more.

We also traded for Trevor Moore; someone I don't see being on the team in 2 seasons.

He may very well be in the AHL to start next season.

I'd take Trevor Moore over Clewlis and Wagner. He's probably every bit as good as Lizotte, honestly. Lizotte is not the same, since returning from his injury and his last
13 games, 0 goals, 2 assists and -5. His last goal? December 17. He should probably be in the AHL. 1 goal in last 21 games. Lizotte has a 5.6% shooting %. That beats sniper assassin Wagner's 2.9% though.

I'd take Brendan Leipsic and Carl Hagelin over Lewis and Wagner.

And yeah honestly all these young guys we have on the current roster have been very underwhelming aside from Nikolai

Wagner looks better than half of the other forwards on the team. If he can finish even a couple of his chances hell be fine.
