I think teams would pay more now because then it allows them flexibility in free agency and they get him for a full year as opposed to a couple of months.
absolutely, everything has to be factored in, but those teams have to believe the Gus they saw this season is the one they will get moving forward and that seems to be the issue/concern for some - like CH10 said, prove it again...

I rather have Kruger as a 13F than Hayden tbh...they can do worse than MK assuming he comes back for a mil or something...
Really? I mean Kruger is not even a good defensive C any longer.nevermind being a clusterf*** whenever he touches the puck on offense I would rather hall dirk graham out of retirement at his advanced of 59 or anyone from Rockford for that matter.

Kruger is toast

I have no problem with Kruger coming back as long as it's for the minimum.

I have plenty of problem with idea of bringing him back. And you know he wont be brought back at league minimum by Stanley if he comes back

Also if he is back JC is going to play him which is a problem given his performance in recent years

Give a kid like Highmore a chance or bring in some vet UFA who isn't Kruger

Agreed which is why I'd trade him at the draft and try to get a top 6 prospect or young player.

I have been on the trade him train for a while. With Seabs and Keith on the cap for at least a couple more years (hopefully buyout for Seabs), there is no fit for Gus regardless of what he does this season as we can not allocated the cap he will command especially given the plethora of ELC options that will be available by next season if not already this coming.

If Gus replicates 60 points, he is asking and someone (hopefully dumber then us) is giving him 6 if not 7 per with some decent term. If he returns to earth somewhat and pops 35-40 points, the ask will still be splitting the difference between the last 2 years and wanting 5+, and again some term. You can't lock up Gus with term with what we have coming in the pipeline (that will be on ELC's), and Gus who has not ever really hit a payday is not going to settle for a bargain deal and no term when he has a chance at generational wealth.

I am shopping Gus hard to cap strapped teams (Toronto, Tampa, Winnipeg, Vegas, Edmonton) that may need to move a good player on a mid level cap number that fits long term. Move Gus for a good forward and turn around and grab the first of Nemeth or Chiarot that agrees to 2.5-3 for 2-3 years. A more SAH physical LD that compliments our d prospect pool but doesn't stop the kids from grabbing a role when they are ready based on cap or role they will play.

every sing trade makes no sense...Forsling for a 4th?? just f***ing keep him at that point.

Zachary Gallant?? lol..trade Sikura away for a kid who looks to be every bit the bust..

Anisimov for a 2034 4th round pick??? come on man, I know it is the summer but go play candy crush or something to occupy your time...

why would they give up Haula for just that??

I like the haula addition if he is good to go after his injury. He would be cheap.

Nyqvist @6$ is a no go for me

Yeah, really like Haula as well. BWC is on the right track with that idea. He looked great the season before this one and really broke out. He would be a top end 3C if he plays like that and a significant upgrade to Anisimov.

If you really think about Anisimov 's contract ... it's actually pretty good. He's a durable legit two way center who can give you 20 goals per year ... and he only has 2 years left at $4.5mn cap hit. The only reason the Hawks want to trade him is that he doesn't fit our timeline AND we might need the cap space next summer when we have to re sign Cat, Strome, Gus, etc.

As for Forsling, we can probably re sign him for a year at $1.5mn ... or $3.2mn for 2 years. That's probably better than any 4th rounder would do. That contract won't be hard to move if we want to trade him.

AA id only owed 5 mil total for the next 2 years total after july 1st. A team like A Z or maybe CAR or Buff IE smaller market teams would be interested because they gernally do not worry about AAV as much as actual $$$

Anisimov has more value than a 4th round pick 3 years from now lol...

we likely will move him at some point depending on what we do with UFA's this summer, but definitely can get better than that.

I can live with/without Forsling, just no need to trade him for that low of a return if that is his return.

It has to be small market teams who are still years away. Carolina and Buffalo might be going for it next year ... which implies cap space is important. Teams like Arizona, etc. might make more sense. Even then, Anisimov has a good contract with only 2 years left for his performance on the ice. We shouldn't look for a huge return, but he can still fetch something of value.

Forsling still has upside. Gus signed for a $2.4mn deal for 2 years and he had a smaller resume last year. Forsling is still worth about $3-3.2mn for 2 years. I don't think that will be tough to trade if necessary. He's still young with upside.

I don't care that much for Sikura, but I'm not giving him away either.

Rangers already have top 9 C's set for next year

Zibanejad
Strome
Howden

Howden is part of rebuild (Was key piece of Mcd + Miller trade) and got his first full season in NHL last year

AA would make no sense for them

Important note: that's just his opinion, he has no inside information about it.

At least none that he is publicly acknowledging.

I know firsthand that journalists will present things as their own opinion, or say "I think", when they've been told something on deep background.

In Powers' case, I'm more inclined to think that's the case. If it were Lazerus, I would not give him the benefit of the doubt and would say he's just throwing shit at the wall.
