Agreed which is why I'd trade him at the draft and try to get a top 6 prospect or young player.
I have been on the trade him train for a while. With Seabs and Keith on the cap for at least a couple more years (hopefully buyout for Seabs), there is no fit for Gus regardless of what he does this season as we can not allocated the cap he will command especially given the plethora of ELC options that will be available by next season if not already this coming.
If Gus replicates 60 points, he is asking and someone (hopefully dumber then us) is giving him 6 if not 7 per with some decent term. If he returns to earth somewhat and pops 35-40 points, the ask will still be splitting the difference between the last 2 years and wanting 5+, and again some term. You can't lock up Gus with term with what we have coming in the pipeline (that will be on ELC's), and Gus who has not ever really hit a payday is not going to settle for a bargain deal and no term when he has a chance at generational wealth.
I am shopping Gus hard to cap strapped teams (Toronto, Tampa, Winnipeg, Vegas, Edmonton) that may need to move a good player on a mid level cap number that fits long term. Move Gus for a good forward and turn around and grab the first of Nemeth or Chiarot that agrees to 2.5-3 for 2-3 years. A more SAH physical LD that compliments our d prospect pool but doesn't stop the kids from grabbing a role when they are ready based on cap or role they will play.
