This is so stupid... if he’s trading the pick at should be at the time of the pick when we know who is left on the board, there is a good chance of a surprise faller and unless he picks a up a stud for the pick I don’t see the rush to make the trade now.

You realize Rishaug didn't say the pick is going to be traded in the next 20 minutes, right?

Seriously, if we are paying like 10th overall and Jones for Parayko, there should be NO ONE here complaining about it. We got ourselves our Top 2-4 Right-Handed Dman who has a great contract for the next 3 years and can play the PP very easily. I'm all for a trade like this. If it's a better prospect than Jones, I'd probably not consider it.

There will obviously be no one complaining about a totally lopsided win like that.

The angst is that Chia has a long track record of completely f***ing up big trades, so it's likely to be yet another loss using a valuable asset.

Klef, RNH, 10OA and Jones
for
Karlsson and Smith
Would either team?
swap Smith with Pageau and it might be worth it.
We really should be hanging on to RNH. Karlsson is not worth all this.

Whenever any insider has mentioned Parayko in the last couple days they keep saying the price would be massive. Edmonton also needs to send money out if they want to take money in.

I bet the offer on the table from the Blues (who need centres) is RNH+10th or Draisaitl.

I think trading away RNH for a RHD will hurt the team more than help it. Edmonton was BRUTAL at secondary scoring last year, they can't afford to be trading their only decent forwards.

Klefbom+10 for Parayko makes sense for the Oilers, maybe not the Blues. Wouldn't go higher than that.

I do... but I would understand “aggressively shopping the pick” as he is looking to move it now, I’m fine with moving the pick just do it at the time of the pick when the value could be a lot higher if the right guy falls.

Even if it isn't. People are freaking out that it's gonna be the worst trade ever. This isn't a Griffin Reinhart type of trade. This is a LEGIT Top 2-4 Dman.

It is? Based on what? I mean, I guess I hope you're right.

I'm not a fan of trading #10, I don't see us getting anyone above a #4 offensive D. It will be a massive letdown.

Also not waiting to see who drop could lead to another Brazal incident.

Like always Chia is dealing from a position of weakness, Teams know what he wants and will wait him out till he gives in or take another offer.

Pretty much agree. Anything more theres a good chance we loose the trade.

Think they are better off just picking Boqvist (or best bpa) and not overthinking it.

We aren't trading for Parayko I wish that name would just go away.

Even if we did do that this board would riot and justifiably so.

What has parayko done in his career to be worth klefbom and the 10th. It’s arguable if he’s even better than klefbom. He was this year. He wasn’t last year. He’s done a good job playing behind a top 5 dman in the league his entire career. But he’s never had the type of pressure/responsibility klefbom has had here.

It’s not like he’s younger either. He’s actually a month older than klefbom lol.

I’d love parayko, but you’re trading for a 2nd pairing dman. Not a #1

Pray that Wahlstrom falls to us and we make the pick, guys.

Unless we trade a forward because got him, like Hall and Puljujarvi.

I'm not sure which option I'd prefer.

Nothing scares me more than a bad GM with his job on the line.... It's nice for you to get desperate now Petw, after doing absolutely nothing last summer to fix our problems. Now we are gonna get shafted by a desperation deal.

The best part is STL fans reject that kind of offer as a non starter.

They want Leon f***ing Draisaitl.

I think if the pick is moved it’s going to be a redux of Chias other recent small deals where he trades the pick for a guy further along in his development but on a larger scale.

Dante fabbro someone suggested over the last couple days? Someone like that. Who isn’t actually an nhl player, but the oilers assume will be ready to be one. It fits with what chia has done in the past and it fits salary wise.

I expect smaller deals for us. The 10th is not gonna be enough for what we need and we are not in a position to be trading other assets. I think the team is closer to last season then this one and I hope we do not panic.

This would be a disaster of course.

But Chia doesn't seem to be the type of guy to learn any lessons from his previous mistakes so...
