Chia is going to irreparably ruin the team in the next 2 days.

It is going to happen. Imagine the Reinhart debacle and the Hall trade debacle x2.

Back o' beyond
I'm glad I took today off from work, because there's no way in hell I would've been halfway productive with knot in my stomach thinking about what fresh lunacy Chia is going to produce this time.

"That was the price!"
"Surprisingly, it's being reported as a one for one deal, NO picks going back Edmonton's way."
"I know he's not a sexy player...etc etc"

SOMEBODY TACKLE HIM

MacT should lock Chia in the closet and then go make the picks himself.

Boston traded Doug Hamilton for a 15th overall and two 2015 second-round picks (45th and 52nd overall).
Now he wasn't as established as he or Paryako is now so the cost would obviously have to be a bit better. Now the 10th overall pick, in a draft where there's a good chance that 'your guy', in your top 7 or 8 on your draft board, is there at 10. If ST Louis or Calgary is open to trading one of those Dmen, the realistic ask really cant be too much more than say:

The #10pick + 2nd round pick + decent prospect (Caleb Jones)

Does that get it done? Would you be willing to even pay that price?

(I guess that depends who's still on the board and whether Chia can trade up to get Dobson)

Is CP a game breaker?

The short version is we don't know.

Obviously there is lots to like with the player but a trade to Edmonton would come with an increase in responsibility, pressure, and quality of competition. Just like Shattenkirk before him nobody is really sure what the Blues have in the player as long as he continues to hide behind Pietrangelo.

Where the problem comes in is that the trade ask is acting like the Blues are parting with prime Pronger here.

Every year I let my expectations build up around the draft his to be let down... but this year it’s different. I expect nothing at all, but we actually need to do something if we want to show that we’re planning to compete next year.

Hopefully this is the start of chia and co turning it around and getting us going in the right direction again.

Agree to disagree. they are all pretty good. Underachieving, yes. Poorly coached yes.
But what exactly is their normal? Other than Klefbom I don't think any of them massively underachieved last year. They just weren't very good. Nurse was the only one who played better than the previous season.

I wouldn't put the Oilers defense as a collective in the top half of the league.

He has that potetential, no doubt about it. He's far more likely to be a game changer than Klefbom, despite what some here indicate. Not only that, but he is the poster-child of a dman who breaks out when given more responsibility. (Hello, Brent Burns.) What's more, him and Nurse would be possibly the best pairing in the NHL at restricting zone entry-- a nightmare for teams like Vegas who rely on carrying the puck for zone entry. He can pass the puck, legitimately, and shoot. It would be a big deal if the Oilers got him. Still doubt it will happen though.

I think if the pick is moved it’s going to be a redux of Chias other recent small deals where he trades the pick for a guy further along in his development but on a larger scale.

Dante fabbro someone suggested over the last couple days? Someone like that. Who isn’t actually an nhl player, but the oilers assume will be ready to be one. It fits with what chia has done in the past and it fits salary wise.

Nic Petan out of Winnipeg might be another.
