They both have better shots, but Kotkaniemi has some of the best brain game in the draft.

Wouldnt be surprised if he ended up the more impactful player.

I agree he should be a target but not at 3.

That's not how I read the GDT. The argument for the most part was whether Zadina is better than Tkachuk. Is that even a debate?

I don't really enjoy rehashing what's readily available on the first page. But, until my posts about the separation between players 3 to 7 (and even 10), that means for about 20 pages or so, there was no argument for Tkachuk made, at all. Two posters said they liked him, that's basically it.

The consensus was Zadina was the clear no.3 and some went further comparing him to Svechnikov. Posters were bashing "whiners" (like you should be happy to miss out on Dahlin or Svech with the state of this team the last 25 years) and not understanding this point: that after 1-2, there's a clear separation but the next 7-8 players are all close, hence why picking 3rd is not much of a jump up from our lowest possible position.

Picking 3rd overall isn’t that hard.

Dahlin is obviously going #1.

Carolina will take one of Svechnikov/Zadina 2nd.

We take the one that Carolina doesn’t take and call it a day.

No trying to get cute with the pick, make the easy decision and leave it at that.

As mentioned by others, if they really want the center (Kotkaniemi i'm assuming) then try to get another high pick and trade down to where you think he may be available. This may backfire if he gets picked before, but there should be some good players available at 6 or 7 regardless. Otherwise, just pick Zadina. I think he has 40 goal upside and can really bolster our offense if we can find him a center to pass him the puck. If we had a crystal ball and knew we could draft Hughes next year, then it would make the decision much easier

Maybe not...but it takes a whole lot of projecting to say the Habs will be drafting a winger, who is not going to be Svechnikov and whoever that winger will be, will not be able to untap his full potential unless the Habs acquire a #1C.

Well everybody assume that Montreal cant have Svechnikov until they'll realize that Hurricanes didnt draft a Russian since 2001

I think Zadina is better than Wahlstrom and Kotkaniemi, but I think it's really close between them.

Svechnikov is closer to Dahlin than he is to Zadina, and he's not that close to Dahlin, so imagine the gap.

Tough to say Wahlstrom is a better skater when he never skates.

Also there’s no way defence is equal. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Wahlstrom try defensively.

He’s a good player but a bit of a floater.

Welcome to reality lol, you guys are not the be all end all of the draft , some of you guys have great insight sure and i appreciate all the info and opinions, but wayyy too many personal agendas, it kind of skews your views on other players and creates a little rolling ball of "hate" and then we get a hundred "i dont understand the hate on brady ktachuk" posts everywhere as if he's the worst prospect on earth, and it can all be traced back to here lol

in reality, it's a lot of people who've read a small description of the player against people whove watched said players dozens of times... It's kinda annoying.

While i definitely agree, im more speaking to the sense that theres a general ranking that just places ktachuk 4th everywhere, and to the trained eye, he should not be 4th, and i agree with all of that, but the WAY most of you execute that view or explanation is by absolutely TORCHING the case and character of a player STILL probably going top 10 and should be going top 10, JUSt so you HOPE the team goes with the other player you like more and are lobbying for, and again nothing wrong with having strong opinions and insight on players projected to go in certain landing spots...but its about how a lot of you guys assassinate the value of another player who could project to be a decent player when its all said and done

and i want to add, i get that a lot of the jabs are in jest, or masked jest, and some are serious

but never underestimate just how many people are viewing what you are writing, just because they dont post or sign up and post.. people read the slander on ktachuk and it creates this weird narrative, that a somewhat decent player is the DEATH of the franchise should we take him
