The guys who I have either unranked or well-below concensus. Merkley, Veleno, Bouchard, Thomas.

There's just so much that I dislike about Merkleys game that even if he does make it as an offense first PP guy, it'll likely be years (and a few teams) before his game is at a point where I like him as a player.

NOT Bouchard. I don’t think his game is going to translate as well as people think to the NHL He's not going to be able to lug the puck around nearly as much as he does now.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if one day Kravtsov is seen as the third best player from this draft.

Dobson and Boqvist are my other 2.

... Bouchard has the most "pro - style" offensive game of the defenceman in the first round outside of Dahlin. High percentage plays, doesn't force the puck, and doesn't rely on "lugging" the puck around. Translating most aspects of his offensive game is probably one of the things I'm least concerned about. I'm pretty confident something around 30pts is in the cards for him relatively soon. Defensive play, skating, and intensity on the other hand.... Might relegate him to being a one-trick pony and bottom pairing defenceman .

Here's a general question:

Who are the three players you feel you ranked low(er) and might bite you in the ass ?

Mine would be:
1. Hughes (but like Tkachuk, I actually like quite a bit and have him in "the" top 11).
2. Bouchard
3. Kupari (not because I see high upside, more that I think he's a good bet to be at least an NHL RW, while many I ranked ahead will bust). Im adding him because Ive been rewatching finland specifically for him + Kotka (whos just so good). I might bump him up a few spots for my last edit.

As mentionned earlier, Hughes obviously, but hes still 7th on my list, so thats not too bad.

Wahlstrom is my biggest butt-clench and probably the only one I know Ive ranked too low.

I know Veleno and Hayton are low but I dont feel their upside at all, at worse, if something happens, I underranked two second liners/3rd liners tweeners.

I've seen a lot of him in Halifax and I mean a lot. he's a good player but he's not someone that's gonna be an elite level player in the league. He's gonna be a top liner sniper. He won't carry an offense.

I’m so torn. I honestly have no idea what we should do here.

With Galchenyuk out, I think Zadina actually fills a need for us as a pure top 6 sniper. we may have other top 6 wingers, but none who are pure triggermen like Zadina. To me, he's the cleanest prospect in the draft- I don't see how he doesn't at least give a team Galchenyuk type production but with a higher effort level and IQ. And I think the upside is there too, as I really would not be shocked if he ends up a 40/40 guy. If we stay at 3, he should be the pick.

If we trade down to 6, I think that really opens up our options. I think we can assume Dahlin/Svech/Zadina/Tkachuk/Dobson are gone- and if one is there you can take him as BPA easily. But after those 5, there's another grouping of 5 that features Hughes, Boqvist, Bouchard, Kotkaniemi, and Wahlstrom. Of those 5, I'd say Bouchard makes the least sense, but I could get behind any of those guys at that pick and I could definitely understand having Kotkaniemi as the top guy in that grouping due to him being the top C in the draft.

Do you realize that day after day , week after week , you tell us the same thing about Zadina . I think that we all get it ; he's the guy you like .

Ya I think he's a shoe in for that 2nd 2nd. 1st 2nd hopefully lands a faller. I have this weird sense Kupari falls and we snatch him up.
