I don't think Morozov has much untapped offensive upside.

He's the most average of all the Russians, meaning without a discernable top skill most of the top ones have. Maybe a middle 6 center, but I'd bank on a third line guy if he makes it. What he is is probably a safer bet at an NHLer.

Edit: If I had to nuance the comment a bit because I do like Morozov, Id say that if we were to draft him and expect offense, I'd hope we leave him for a few years in Russia. That's how I think he could very well be a better player than what I'm projecting. That'd be a better route than coming over relatively soon.

This is MB's make or break year even for Molson. So the posters that are expecting MB to make moves like Pacioretty for simply high draft picks (even two first rounders) are not looking at the reality of the situation. MB needs results this coming year. At the very least they need to make the playoffs and even that I don't think will save his job. He would need a decent run in the playoffs. So Pacioretty is most likely being traded for established NHL players.

If they trade Max for veteran players in a futile attempt at the SC, that will be reason IMHO.

Just gave the DraftWired draft simulation a go and traded up and down a few times. Ended up with:

6 - Boqvist
22 - Kotkaniemi
38 - Kravtsov
56 - Dellandrea
64 - Gustafsson
66 - McShane
97 - Shafigullin
102 - Foudy
123 - Zhuravylov
128 - O'Reilly
129 - Dunkley
177 - Wylie

Can you say "Instant rebuild"?

If Only that was the haul, not likely though.

I iz 2 laz

Kidding aside though, I like Kovalenko quite a bit, but I'm not sure how much his game translates.

He's skilled and pretty complete offensively. He was a bit of a bull in the MHL, but what I liked most was how scoring chances just happen when he gets the puck and in so many different ways. It also translated into the best ppg on his team (beating Denisenko for draft elligibles, but hes a few months older).

So, I like him for a mock for pure upside, but if I was a paid scout looking to bank on getting NHL players, I'm not sure Id pick him over some of the other Russians I feel showed less offensively this year but that likely have actual NHL upside, Morozov included. In that sense, he's a mid-late pick whereas Id be ok with Morozov probably as early as a late 2nd.

Have you had a chance to view more of Nikita Rozhkov?

Decided to do the Draft Wired again. I shit you not:
4. Svechnikov
35. Kotkaniemi
38. Kaut
56. Sandin
62. Hillis
66. Foudy
97. Kurashev
111. Topping
123. Roman
128. Morozov
145. Shafigullin
155. Steeves
202. Wassenius
207. Lilja

Tried the NHL draft lottery simulator, it came up with;

NYR - #1
Habs - #2
Red Wings - #3

Not a single bottom three team paying off for dismal performance, they must be trying to appease the fans.
Sportsmanship should count for something, three Original Six teams Nice!!!...:thumbu::thumbu::thumbu:

Calen Addison is producing alot in playoffs and Letbridge doing well too, his differential is bad but still, how intersting is this kid and where do you guys project him to be drafted?

Have you had a chance to view more of Nikita Rozhkov?

I did.

I'll be honest, the first two games I saw I wasn't paying attention to him whatsoever.

But, I watched one game against Reaktor and another against Altay. He was alternating between wing and center in those games.

Offensively, the thing that stood out to me was how much he was looking to position himself to shoot. At least in those two games, he had quite a few high danger shot attempts [he scored from a one time and a real hard accurate wrist shot, all in the slot or around the net]. I didn't expect it either because, while he's not the shortest (5'10") he looks really small, but despite that he was hustling and outmuscling guys for the puck and winning most of his battles.

He had a few nice passes too, but what I liked were two things: 1. His hands, they were quick and he made some nice moves at high speed and 2. His awareness of the play and how it translated to playing the puck quickly and with a lot of pace. That made me think he's probably bound to make the KHL soon.

He's a quick skater, but his strides are short. As far as upside goes, I'm not sure. I guess he reminded me a bit of Kovalenko but with less variety offensively. I don't think he's got the potential of a high end guy with some size concern like Iskhakov for example. I'd put him more in a group of mid-late rounders with guys like Gogolev or Kovalenko.

I dunno m8, I actually see a decent amount of offensive upside in Morozov. Wingers, especially russian wingers, are always going to look more spectacular at this stage. There's a lot of swooping around without the puck as a center, and junior centers almost always look a bit worse than their winger counterparts. I don't have an explanation for this, but it seems to be true of every center that I've watched this year. It's just a harder position to look useful in, I guess.

Anyone know anything about Kristian Tanus?

I've noticed him in every tournament that I've watched him. He always manages to put up points against the U18's. He's a playmaker more than anything, and a good skater. The question with him is ''can he survive in the NHL at that size''? He looks like a future euro star to me, as I don't think he's quite squirrely or explosive enough to make it in the NHL, but who knows.

Hayton is a surefire top6 center. Facts are facts, coming from a professional.

You troll baited me.. I had to bash McCagg's balls for that one on twitter.

I'm unable to get access to any of the draftwired links/websites from Google. I want to check it out to see how it works. Can anyone just give me an idea on how it works?
