Yes Kessel was a beast for them in the playoffs with his shot! Hornqvist was also important but his accomplishments don’t show up on the stats sheet most nights.

How was kessel with the Leafs? He was a soft player. Offensive talent is important. But complimenting these guys with a guy like Tkachuk is also important

Both Kessel and Hornqvist are important to various degrees for the Penguins, but let's be honest: one of these two player types is harder to draft and more costly to acquire at the NHL level, and it ain't the gritty one.

Lol. It’s what I noticed and I’ve been saying it since last off season.. it carried over into this year. Hope Price rebounds cause we need him at his best
We averaged 1.8 goals for in the playoffs. Price had a 0.933% and 1.86 GAA. That's like saying the Kings got swept this year because Quick wasn't good enough even though they scored 3 goals in 4 games.

I ran the simulator at draftwired and the first pick Philly offered their 14th and 19th for our 4th. So they picked Boqvist and I picked up Dobson and Cockamanie (Kotkaniemi). Would you guys be good with that?

Yeah if we get 2 of the top 3 centers in the league, I can see the argument for Tkachuk. Kessel was always great in the playoffs, he scored a ton with Tyler Bozak as his best teammate.

I know numbers arent everything but they do have meaning. I just really do not find Tkachuks numbers impressive even compared to his brother, who he is supposed to be better than. And this guy is NHL big right now. I would not take him with our pick.

Except Tkachuk has offensive skills and power. Two birds with one stone.

Who ends up better? Zadina or Tkachuk?

I know the stats. We lost cause Lundqvist was better. Yeah scoring is an issue but go watch the timing of those soft goals at key points in the game

I think not scoring goals when you need them is more of a momentum killer. You win more games by scoring goals instead of trying to prevent them.

Also how does Tkachuk score us more goals over Zadina or Wahlstrom or Boqvist or Hughes? Will he intimidate it into the net?

Our team was built to win by solid D and Goaltending. Rangers beat us at this game last year. Soft goals at bad times.. I hated it last year! I also didn’t like our lack of puck possession in the offensive end too.

We need Price to stop the easy ones. It’s been a downward trend

Only the future can answer that question, but if you're asking me who is the better prospect right now I would say Zadina.

I'm just praying for a top two pick, makes the Habs' draft decision that much easier.

The Rangers scored less than 2 gp/g against Price. All we needed to do was score more than 2 gp/g and we couldn't do that.

Again, you win more games by scoring goals than you do trying to prevent them.

Hell yeah, however, there is no chance that both Dobson and Kotkaniemi slide that much, they are both very high picks...

I disagree. Svechnikov will have an impact in the NHL next year. He would probably the best forward on this team right now.

Imagine if the Oilers win the 2nd lottery pick and draft Svech, he could get around 80 pts at his rookie year playing with McDavid..

Its the stare thing Weber also has.

Oh hell yes, though no chance those two are around at 14th and 19th.

Go re watch every goal. Soft goals are a killer to team momentum

True, but a team that can’t recover is poorly constructed. Hank was better than Price statistically but we lost because our scorers were great at firing pucks at the goalie instead of the goal.

Context. Put Tkachuk on McDavid’s wing, he’ll score more than Zadina on say Drouin’s wing. Easier question to answer when we see where they end up.

Anyhow, there’s 10 players I’d take before Tkachuk.
