I don't love the 2 concussions in 7 months

Scares me as well. Guys are bigger in the NHL and they know how to hit hard. Another couple of concussions and he could be done. Certainly he would likely adjust how he plays, which would be bad if he plays tentatively.

He must’ve been talking to this guy then....:sarcasm:

LOL... Nice catch.

Except PK looks good in them. The Idiot not so much.

Let’s say a certain player is falling on draft day and now at the 26th overall he is still there. What would you give up to trade up and who would be the player? I would consider moving up for Dellandrea and would give 35 and 62 or 56

Is there any instance where you'd move up for Jay O'Brien?
Those guys are top 15 for me or close in Alexeyev's case. But yes, if we're within a few selections from our first 2nd and I know one of the late 1st or early 2nd teams are taking him, I'd make a move.

Anything our resident NCAA peeps can tell us about Hutsko? @montreal?

He's super intriguing. A month younger than Poehling and just a couple older than Tkachuk, produced the same numbers on a mediocre BC team as a freshman. Was apparently a unanimous selection for the Hockey East all-rookie team in front of Makar, Bowers and Tkachuk.

Seems to have all kinds of offensive tools. Not to mention he'll likely be playing with Wahlstrom next season so he could be poised to explode offensively.

Only game I could find of him for free.

If true that the Wings really want our pick, I would seriously think about trading it for their 2019 first.. The logic behind this is pretty simple, the Wings are likely going to suck again next year, more than Buffalo, more than Arizona ect and the next draft is highly rich in top centers like Hughes Dach and Lavoie (who Im very high on and think he will be one of the absolute risers in that draft) to name few, so not only we could end up hitting an homerun with our own pick, but we could hit a grand slam with both picks... And if Detroit add one of their early second picks, that even better...

What would the deal be in your scenario? Our 3rd overall for Detroit's 2019 first and one of their seconds this year?

No GM would do such a trade. The gamble is too much especially considering we would be trade 3rd overall.

Yeah, I don't think either GM would do the trade. Bad teams don't trade firsts unprotected, and you don't trade the 3rd overall now to wait a year to make a worse pick for a 2nd rounder (especially when you already have 4). If he means 3rd overall for 6th plus Detroit's first lottery protected next year and a 2nd this year, I would obviously do that, but I don't think Detroit would.

That's a type of trade that might get you 2nd overall and the clearly better player. Not the type of trade to get a guy in a cluster of other guys.

I would however do 3 for 6 and the option to swap firsts next year. Straight up and I'd even be willing to add a late 2nd to make such a deal happen.

If I read you correctly, are you saying:

To Montreal: Detroit #6 2018, 1st round 2019
To Detroit: Montreal #3 2018, 1st round 2019 plus maybe our TOR or WSH 2nds?

I wouldn’t do that, not by a long shot.

What we know is we have #3 overall, Detroit has #6. What is unknown is next year.

So say we swap picks this year and do the same next year as part of this trade, we run the risk of course of finishing behind Detroit, thus, we give them the better pick in 2019. Add this with swapping a better pick this year. I mean, not that I expect it, but what if Detroit makes the ECF and we finish 4th last again?

Now, if you mean what NP said, which is:

To Detroit: Montreal #3 2018
To Montreal: Detroit #6 2018, 2nd round 2018, 1st round 2019

Yeah, I’d do that. And sure, I’d be willing to give up our 2018 Toronto or Washington pick as well.
