What? They lost Collin Miller to Vegas, and drafted Zboril and Trent Frederic with the picks they got from Lucic. They drafted Senyshyn, Forsbacka Karlsson and Lauzon with the picks they got from the Hamilton trade.

The Lucic trade was fine, but badly bungled on the draft floor. The Hamilton trade was bad and remains bad.

Its nice talking about acquiring picks, but look at that haul Boston got.

Boston bounced back due to guys that were already there and because they've always had a good goaltender and a great top 4 forwards.
Boston drafted Debrusk, Carlo and the next year drafted MacAvoy and are now a top team in the league......nothing to see here lol

Debrusk is actually very good. But yeah that was pretty bad.
It’s not as good because of two of those players haven’t planned out yet. Mind you it’s only been 3yrs.

If they had drafted Chabot, and Barzal instead it would’ve been the trade of the year. It’s all hindsight now, we can all say he should’ve picked him or him. Still, Calgary missed the playoffs and Boston is sitting at the top of the conference

The idea to trade Pacioretty for picks has the potential to be very good in this very good draft.

Buttons list is good. Obviously there's a few things I don't agree on, but for the major part its good. Boqvist is too low and Hayton is way too high but thats fine.

Button's list shows there's a lot of centers available early 2nd/late 1st, thats good for the Habs.

From 25 to 50 he has 11 centers+ three that have some center/winger vibe.

Also Kaut at 45, if thats a result of the surgery, its beautiful.

Unfortunately Andrei Svech met with Carolina and had some additional face time and tests. The dream is dying
It was written in the sky with Rick Dudley and Don Waddell.

That being said there could be some interest for Zadina if we trade down.

Kaut with our 2nd round pick is the dream...

I was hoping for a center and LD for our 2 early 2nd's but after doing draft wired a few times now, I realized there is not much LD available. If a guy like Sandin slips into the 20-25 range, I'd consider moving down. Draft wired price to move down to 23 was the 35th, 97th, and 102.

I was able to get 3 centers and 2 LD after the 3rd pick.

Svechnikov (3)
Sandin (23)
Dellandrea (38)
O'Brien (56)
Demin (62)
McShane (66)

Carlo is a stay at home D-man. DeBrusk is a good middle 6 winger. McAvoy is really good. They also didn't need to make those trades to get any of those guys. Particularly the Hamilton trade, which still looks as awful as it did when they made the trade.

Boston bounced back because they have the best top line in hockey, a good goalie, good center depth and enough D to get by. They didn't bounce back because they made good trades around Lucic and then mostly bungled the picks they got or because they traded a really young top pair D-man for cheap.

That was my point. Trading for picks isn't that difficult. Tatar got back a 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the deadline. But you have to actually draft well. The Lucic deal was fine, but Boston traded a building block piece for a 1st and two 2nds, none of which looked great even at the time.

This draft is considered average, not very good.

How is Zadina in Fortnite? The ultimate test for a prospect.

Actually funny thing is, he says he is very bad at it(Fortnite)..lol I read that today.....Habs must be worried he'll get better at it .lol

There goona pass him over...no Zadina in Montreal

Who said this draft is average? It's deep isn't it?

Hayton is not "way too high."

I've actually watched him live several times.

There's something to be said for not just his skill, but his consistency.

Playing as well as he did in the playoffs - three tough and physical series - allows for better evaluation than any Under-18 tourney can.

He's way undervalued on this board.

The draft will bear it out, too.
