OH, NO, THE HABS ARE GOING TO TAKE A POTENTIAL FIRST LINE CENTER AREN'T THEY ?

The team might become relevant for the first time in 30 years, how will I live with this?
Even worse, we will likely have another high pick in a deep year for centers next year. Having a deep center core of Dach-Kotkaniemi-Poehling-Danault is a recipe for disaster.

Imagine the possibilities...

- Even more cap space this year vs last year :sarcasm:
- Terrible 2017/2018 season and the 3rd pick but no Dahlin. A season more terrible next year and the year after that.. would we be lucky to get Hughes or Lafreniere? It's a dream but would be nice
- Price/Weber demand trades and we get more futures on top of what we get in this next draft.

However, I think we make moves where we have less cap space than last year and we end up middle of the pack in this Bergevin "re-tool" where we have a better start to the year, a healthier roster, and a maturing age 25 and under core. That's what I'm worried about and the more probable to happen IMO. This is why I make moves to get that center in this off season.

3rd OA and Patch for Borgstrom, 15th, 34th, and a 2019 2nd. I know that the majority don't like it but I'd consider it for sure. Acquiring the 21 year old Borgstrom to start the year fits with our re-tool and our age 25 and under core. And we add two very good picks in the next draft in the process. Go sign Stastny and make a trade to get a LD to play with Weber. Imagine what we can get for the 15th, 34th, 35th, 38th, 56th, 62nd, and 66th picks? This trade helps us now and in the future.

Taking Bouchard at #3 would shock the **** out of me. Not expecting that at all. I see either Kotkaniemi, Boqvist, Dobson or Zadina there.

Conversely, if the Habs take Boqvist at 3 and trade Pacioretty to pick Kotkaniemi, I'd be doing backflips.
We need to pull a Boston where everyone was up and arms at the GM after getting rid of Lucic and trading Hamilton for first round picks......3yrs late he's a genius.

The hate for Bergy will be at an all time high but Mister Man if we can accumulate high first round picks for Pacioretty, maybe even Price and roll these with our own top 5 picks from this year and next, and add that on to the talent we already have, we could potentially be an up and coming force.

No way Molson allows him to do that. Bergevin should be fired, 2nd worst gm in the league. Hard to be worse than Chia. I mean the Oilers could have a lineup of:
Hall-McDavid-Draisaitl
RNH-Barzal-Puljujarvi

WOOF

The rumour I heard was Hamilton wanted out but if he didn't that was a dumb trade.

Well, maybe. And, that's what a lot of posters keep saying as he's in that group of players at 3 who had remarkable seasons and who's potentials are all close to each other.

Just a thought about this group of players. I think we'd all pretty much take the chance that Svechnikov will be better than any of Zadina, Wahlstrom, Boqvist, Dobson, Bouchard, Tkachuk, and Kotkaniemi, rather than the chance that any one of these 7 players would eclipse Svechnikov. That's why he's a clear, consensus, not even debatable #2.

Why we're even having this debate is because even if we have our pairwise favourites between any two of those 7, absolutely nobody would take the same chance. But this is the chance that you get when you draft any player.

This is more to cut DGS off from trying to play the game where he says that he ''just didn't want Kotkaniemi.'' Doesn't work like that, Jabroni, you get 1 on draft day, and you have to stick with it, so that I can shit on your head when I'm right.

Meanwhile, I haven't seen you make a bold statement as to who the Habs should draft, or rather who you would draft. Maybe afterall, it is you that is the Jabroni :sarcasm:

Even after f***ing it all up in 2015 lol. Man, Bruins, and former Bruins staff did a number on that draft.

I mean, ignore the inconsistencies like his comments on Vilardi's skating or Kupari having more upside yet ranking him lower... DGS or any other poster could make a legitimate case against Koktaniemi at 3, if they wanted to. I have more issues with posters against picking him there that don't elaborate why or disregard what he's done this year (while propping up other prospects for the same things, or even lesser accomplishments ).

For example, I could say that Kotkaniemi is likely just 1 year away, because he's more ready, having played at a young age against men and produced. Yet, that's exactly what a certain someone said to prop up Poehling last year while knocking Kotkaniemi for being a project.

What? They lost Collin Miller to Vegas, and drafted Zboril and Trent Frederic with the picks they got from Lucic. They drafted Senyshyn, Forsbacka Karlsson and Lauzon with the picks they got from the Hamilton trade.

The Lucic trade was fine, but badly bungled on the draft floor. The Hamilton trade was bad and remains bad.

Its nice talking about acquiring picks, but look at that haul Boston got.

Boston bounced back due to guys that were already there and because they've always had a good goaltender and a great top 4 forwards.
