He's bad. Small, poor skater, has a good shot and decent playmaking skills, only really effective on the PP.

He's a good gamble. Talent? He's got it. I'm not gonna knock the physical aspects of his play this year since that illness absolutely wrecked him. We will know more this season but definitely a guy I would gamble on. It's a home run swing.

And everyone has to give me credit for stealing him in the 3rd for the mock.

You were the bane of my existence in that mock, picking just before me. I wanted Semyon Der-Arguchintsev, but you also stole Smith and Addison from me. smith I wasn't too surprised with as I expected him to be taken around there, but Addison I had a whole write-up planned, picture downloaded and set to go. As you took a D-man already, I was surprised with it.

Anyhow, just some general comments from the last couple pages:

Semyon Der-Arguchintsev is definitely a player to keep an eye on. Definitely worth a 3rd rounder and given where we finished, obtainable.

I have Hughes and Boqvist pretty close, but Boqvist is still ahead for me. Basically, can do everything Hughes can but also has a better shot. On that note, I do think the debate about Hughes' shot being bad is overstated. IF we were to draft him, I'd say his shot would only be behind Weber, Petry, Juulsen and maybe Benn in terms of raw power. If you factor in accuracy and shot selection, I'd put him top-3 of our current d-core.

Khovanov's progression was hurt this year, but worth a look with our later seconds if he's on the board. Some players I prefer ahead of him, but I like this kid.

I think Morozov is clearly ahead of Lipanov at the same point in their careers. SDA is just so young and skilled that I think someone will take a chance earlier. It helps that he is already in North America.

He's on Peterborough though and I'm not sure that actual scouts cared to catch much of their games. His absence from a lot of critical lists indicate to me he's under the radar the same way Point was even though Point put up bigger numbers and isn't a Russian.

I agree it will be interesting to see how he does next year but whenever I watched Moncton he looked... meh. The team was carried mostly by overage Dmen Miromanov and Welsh, and Khovanov never did much of anything when not on the PP. He has an excuse though, I'll give him that, but I feel there are better 2nd round risks out there.

I hope you're right. Would love to grab him in the 3rd or later.

If Pacioretty's trade give us a mid 1st rounder, I'd like to get Akil Thomas

I feel like Akil Thomas is going to drop a bit in the draft. Maybe not all the way to 35, but there are a bunch of guys that have stepped up their game and he is not one of them. Maybe if we get a late 1st, but even then there are some guys I'm more excited about.

Is the Hockey News Draft Preview out yet?

I believe this is taken from it:

Nothing. Just learned it. Surprised. Don't worry, it doesn't mean I want him at 3....;)

I know you better than that.. tho you may get mad if we don't trade up for him and he drops a bit now ;)

On a serious note.. Wilde has tools but the Beaulieu vibe has made me drop him consistently.

If that Mark Edwards tweet about the chaotic situation that he says is prevalent in the 15-45 picks, holds water, then someone of value even if not named Sandin, Alexeyev or Berggren, is bound to slip.

lol. Yeah I know but he's still 15 to 20 for me. And could be a fine pick if we can somehow get an additional pick.

According to numerous reports the Habs will not trade the 3rd overall pick. It is speculated that we will draft one of the three wingers after Dahlin.

Alex Svechnikov
Filip Zadina
Brady Tkachuk

As per TSN

Bergevin is the biggest hypocrite in the world so to me, he will pick Tkachuk.

He's slow.
He's older than the class.
His projection is not far from what he already is.

The comments about Drouin are completely hypocritical of what he did with Galchenyuk.

Basically everything MB says he does the opposite. He's like George Costanza except the opposite of everything he says is enormously detrimental.

Yup I thought the same while reading that part near the end. He completely wrote Galchenyuk off from being a center even after he had very good success offensively there at the end of the season where he scored 30 and again during his hot start in the following season before his injury.

Reading that quote from MB really pissed me off since what he said about Drouin at center is pretty much what most here wanted for Galchenyuk. The lack of patience and very poor development of Galchenyuk at center at the expense of other options just shows how awful this management really are.

Also from reading that Q & A I think the Finn center, who really didn't play much center this season but is projected to be a center, will very likely be a Hab on draft day. Sounds kinda like another Galchenyuk scenario if you ask me. If you swing and miss on this draft Marc you should be all but done as the Habs GM but if I had my way you would already be gone. Just don't **** this very important draft up.

Here's MB's quote about Drouin at center for anyone who didn't see the Q&A. ****ing Hypocrite.

You experimented with Jonathan Drouin at center last season, a position where you are noticeably thin. Will you continue to try him there?
"As we speak today, there is a lack in the middle. [Drouin], well, I would say in the first half he had a hard time adjusting to center. As the season progressed, well, is he the perfect centerman? Is he Sidney Crosby? Of course not. But can he fill a role at times? Yes, he can. We'll have to address some of our needs, sure. At the same time, there is a perception that [Drouin] failed there. I'm not ready to say that. He played some center in junior and he played some there in Tampa. Other than goaltending, I think center is probably the hardest position to fill. It takes some time and some mileage to play that position to a degree where you could really help your team win. So I'm not going to write him off there. But we have options we can look at as we speak."
