I have a question. I watch the memorial cup most years. The team coming from the Q is often very good and rarely the worst team. Still most people feel like the Q is the weakest of the Canadian leagues... and definitely when it comes to the draft I tend to agree at least to some extent.

What is your take on this? Do the other leagues have more parity? Is this just an unfair bias? How do you feel about the different leagues?
Teams in the Q often play a less structured style. More than anything it's a high scoring league so you have to take numbers with a grain of salt.

Gimme Dobson + Kotkaniemi this draft, Hughes and one of the other C's (Dach/Lavoie/Turcotte/whoever else) next year :P , nothing would make me happier.

Of coure, that's fantasyland.
Give me no pick this year and Hughes next year.

Id go Hayton/Noel/Miller with the first few picks if it guaranteed Hughes

There is a good drop off after 8 for me, and I know that Tkachuk and Bouchard will definitely go top 8. So #10 would be really nice to get.

Well duh.

It's fantasyland, no need to rain on my parade. Really I was just saying those are some of my favorites (Dobson, Kotkaniemi & Dach specifically... Hughes is everyone's favorite)

He has risen in rankings I can respect all season.

Have seen him live all season and understand why he's risen.

He was the Hounds most consistent forward in the playoffs.

Thus, he won't be sliding and will be off the board no later than pick 12.
I’m with you! Hayton will go high - I’m sure of it. Scouts were raving about him in playoffs.

You're in the right thread for takes on Hayton that contradict yours. I honestly don't know who's right but the overwhelming majority opinion that I've read in this thread, is not favorable or flattering to Hayton.
It’s a Montreal thing - Veleno fans talking down the competition. Doesn’t matter - NHL teams don’t go by this board. It’s all for fun.

Poehling has more potential. Hayton doesnt have the smarts Poehling has.

I don’t know much about Hayton, that’s why I asked. Does he have more, less or the same offensive abilities?

It would be interesting to see what Poehling could of done in the CHL. I think because he played in the NCAA so early, he’s learned to play a complete game faster.

Hard to say it's too early if it's benefited him. Maybe he wasn't a stud in the NCAA last year, but if it helps him in the long-term I'm in favour of it.

I would think he is one year ahead of most. Surprised he slipped to 25! I believe he was ranked somewhere in the middle of the 1st round pre draft. His lack of offensive numbers concerned many teams but he squashed that 12 months later

Yeah I had worries about his offense, he looks much better now though.

I think he is the type of center we need! Now if we can only find a real offensive center to play above him on the depth chart. I rather a big center who can skate vs a small center who can skate! Our wingers need a gritty center with offense IMO.

As far as I'm concerned, there's the western conference of the OHL and then there's the rest. The rest is pretty even. Different styles but very similar strength. The Q had 4 very strong teams and the rest was tight.
