I'll take a one-year, self-imposed sabbatical if Hayton doesn't go in the first dozen picks.

Don't do that!! Crazy things happen every year at the draft. I imagine you are right because Hayton is a really hard worker and is a safe bet to be a top 9 player... I just don't like his upside as much as Kotkienemi and most others in the top half of the 1st.

He has risen in rankings I can respect all season.

Have seen him live all season and understand why he's risen.

He was the Hounds most consistent forward in the playoffs.

Thus, he won't be sliding and will be off the board no later than pick 12.
Agreed. I think most of the folks who don't like him are just looking at the stat sheet. But the guy has all the tools and skills to be a top 6 C in the NHL. I think a year from now he'll be viewed as a steal.

As if you guys didn't spend a full page talking about how he averaged less than a ppg...

It's more the fact that you're accusing people of not watching the prospects that's amusing, Mr. ''I haven't watched him a tonne, but I've seen enough'' from games in which a certain prospect wasn't even playing. Lol.

I watched Kotkaniemi at the U18s... I never claimed to watch everyone (do I even talk about non first round guys?), but everyone who's been in the mix for our first pick I've watched play multiple times by now. Period. Hell, I just recorded a bunch of US games at the WC just to watch Hughes more.

It's a risk for me, but I don't post often enough or memorable stuff to be missed. Appreciate the caution flag, though.

I'm too big of a Hayton fan in a way. Can't bark at posters who may not see him as much, or like, I do.

I'm one of the legion that has pulled at precious hair on my scalp over Hab drafting ever since they passed on Jeff Carter for A.K., allowing Mr. Gap Tooth to draft Carter to Philly.

History suggests I should post and cross fingers about guys I don't want the Habs to draft, maybe that will work, lol.

I agree, you don't need to put up any wagers. But, it's good to have a contrarian opinion especially when it's supported by your own observations. It only elevates the discussion.

Well it's great to hear your opinion! There are definitely others that share it... I have to admit Hayton did make lots of progress this year. He seems like a sure-fire pro player too... I'll definitely give him another look. Luckily for you guys I won't be making the final decision!! :)

I have a question. I watch the memorial cup most years. The team coming from the Q is often very good and rarely the worst team. Still most people feel like the Q is the weakest of the Canadian leagues... and definitely when it comes to the draft I tend to agree at least to some extent.

What is your take on this? Do the other leagues have more parity? Is this just an unfair bias? How do you feel about the different leagues?
