And some people think Svechnikov is BPA at #2. It will be interesting to see if the Canes actually do draft Zadina. I think a lot of Habs fans have been drooling over Svechnikov for a while now. I think both are similar talent. Time will tell but I'd be happy with either. I know Zadina very well but no so much with Svechnikov.

Svechnikov is unfortunately worth A LOT more the Patches. The 3OA will have to be included in the trade if we want Svech.

I think the voting would go 60/40 towards Svechnikov over Zadina if you ran a poll from all teams fans. If you want Svechnikov badly, offer them one of our 2nd's. The difference between 2 and 3 is not that much and the Canes might take Zadina anyways.

Wonder if we can swing a deal. #2 and Hanifin for #3 and Patch (pre-negotiated contract). Add another B type piece if we have to. Ikonen or one of our goalie prospects.

Hope the Sens don't draft Tkachuk. Lets the Coyotes or Canucks take him please. Send him out west. If the Sens or Wings take him, I might hate him being in our face all the time!

We have Crosby, Malkin, Tavares, Ovechkin, Stamkos, Kucherov etc. in our conference. I could not care less about having to play against Brady Tkachuk.

Understood. But it's the kind of hate I had for Lucic with the Bruins and I was talking about how much you would see him in our own division. I would be meh if Tkachuk was out west but if he were with the Sens or Wings, we would see him a lot and he could be annoying like Lucic.

Why ? I thought he was only slightly better than Zadina, if he is at all.

Some people think there is a significant gap between Svechnikov and Zadina. I don't though. Zadina can very easily go #2. Imagine... Dahlin, Zadina and then we pass on Svechnikov and take Kotkaniemi or Hughes. I'd be OK with it.

Blackhawks are sitting nice at 8 IMO. I think they take Kotkaniemi if he is still left.

In order for there to be another Lucic, I think the league has to revert to 2010-2011 style hockey again. The league's been looking for the next Lucic since the first Lucic (especially us) and nobody found him, and I don't think the original Lucic would have been as effective in this rule-set anyways.

The 2011 bruins did a number on us. They played mind games with this club. They beat us to a pulp, made us draft McCarron, and then changed to a skill/speed game. Rude.

Which is a stupid way to react to losing in Game 7 OT.. all because Martin put out a clearly concussed Jeff Halpern to take a defensive zone face-off, which resulted in him flopping like a fish at the blueline on a routine shot that Price would've eaten up.

Pretty sure the Mathew Tkachuk is a pain to play against.

"60/40" he says

I can't say what the Canes are really thinking. Also, just going by history, they haven't drafted a Russian player in the first round I believe since 2001 (Igor Knyazev). In fact, I think that is the only time they ever drafted a player of Russian descent. Now, past history doesn't necessarily mean future actions but here's to hoping. Now, I always state go BPA, but for the sake of looking at needs, Carolina's depth chart I think indicates a need on wing. I think their left wing is a bit weaker and Zadina and Tkachuk play left wing...

As for BPA, the key thing about this concept is teams have to weigh what they perceive as BPA, unless a talent is so extraordinary that it supercedes any perceived need or other factors. This year, it's Dahlin... you can be starving for centers but you'd be a fool to pass on him. Personally, I have Svech much higher than Zadina (I got 2-3 players other than Svech ahead of Zadina), but obviously I am not an amateur scout working for an NHL team, so ultimately, they need to look at their depth, weigh it against the consensus BPA against what they project as BPA within the context of their own organization.

Just to end this, I like Zadina and would be happy with him. I like other players more but Zadina is going to be a good player... even on a team as sad as ours. I know some will argue he needs an elite center, but I say don't worry. We'll be drafting one of Hughes, Dach, Cozens or Lavoie next summer :)

That specific poster was throwing fits on the same subject a few days ago, but now says the gap between 2 and 3 would cost Pacioretty

If you say idiotic things constantly and refuse to admit to your own idiocy, expect to get punched in the mouth at every turn.

Saying Zadina and Svechnikov as being close in potential is not idiotic. Look at the various rankings out there. You don't agree and then go on to insult others cause others don't agree with you. You have a problem when people don't agree with you. You should get help with that.

You are going on a hate rampage and it's ridiculous. I sincerely ask you to think about that and make adjustments. It's not the first time I ask you this either.

I think they should get banned past the draft. They think they own this site or something. When others don't agree with them, they take fits and insult you. It should not be tolerated and a message needs to be send to them IMO.

This summarizes everything... You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts. It's ok to have a discussion that ends up with a disagreement but hating someone on this is ridiculous and childish.

I like both Hughes/Boqvist - (both are offensively gifted & great skaters, I will be extremely happy if the Habs can acquire Edmonton's pick for Max. Getting any of Svechnikov/Zadina or Hughes/Boqvist with our #3 and Kotkaneimi with Edmonton's pick. Having 4 - 2nd's just icing on the cake, hoping somehow the Habs can draft Veleno in the late 1st or early 2nd round, Dellandrea & Khovanov as well giving the Habs huge Center/Wing depth for the future, Tychonick is a defenceman I would be overjoyed to select in the 2nd round, doubtful though. Habs fans will be hardpressed to sleep the Entry Draft weekend, I will be far to excited to see which prospects the Habs will pick to even think about sleeping. Go Habs Go!!!... If the Habs don't take Zadina, I hope they get Dom Bokk(In the late 1st or early 2nd) he's a pretty good winger IMHO!!!...:walrus::walrus::walrus: Having Zadina(RW) + Galchenyuk(LW) with Drouin(C), then Boqvist(great shot) & Weber (Cannon) on the points for the 1st PP unit, phenomenal IMHO!!!...:devdance::devdance::devdance:Kotkaneimi(C) + Lehkonen(LW) + Zadina(RW) would also be a killer line, IMHO. with Weber & Juulsen on the points great too.

Yeah, I have a lot of the same names. Hughes and Kotkaniemi would be a dream first round.

In the 2nd I hope Dellandrea falls to us but I don't know that that's possible. That's a dream if he falls to us. Hoping one of Tychonick or Sandin is there, crossing my fingers for Jack Wise and Jack McBain with late firsts. I have seen these guys ranked into the 1st round and deep into 2nd so not sure but I really like those guys.

Would love Dudas or Beaudin in the 3rd/4th. Oscar Bach I really like too but not sure of his ceiling.
