that’s quite the assumption you made in 2 that I don’t believe at all. Actually 1 as well.

so based on zero info except he was scratched from a guy you think that the hartford staff needs to be reminded that their primary job is to develop prospects but don't believe that how much ice time the kids get is the only thing that matters? yeah that makes sense

Vince said he reached out to Kravtsov's agent for an update...but don't hold your breath on getting an update from the rangers. IMO there is little chance they discuss it if its true until a decision is made. and there is literally no chance they will acknowledge a random rumor if there is nothing to it...are they now supposed to comment on every false thing said on twitter?

Yeah, this is what was saying. If there's any truth to the rumor then there will not be an official word from the Rangers until the final decision. On the other hand if it's completely made up then they or Kravtsov himself will say so soon than later.

He needs to be playing. I never brought up how much ice time you did.

Depending on the state, high school athletes are only allowed 2-5 practice hours a day. But that’s besides the point.
I was just reiterating what NHL'ers who spent time in Russia apparently described training camp as when interviewed on Spittin Chiclets.
Don’t shoot the messenger.

Haha I'm not talking about HS football in 2019 and I'm not shooting any messenger here. I saw you label the training as "insane" and it just occurred to me that it might not really be that insane for an athlete who is expected to be living adnd breathing their sport for a living. I thought of the HS football thing and just felt like bringing that up.

Sounds like Kravstov's agent trying to leverage the Rangers into a call up.

I don't like this from many angles.

Not commenting on the validity of the rumor but I like this idea that going back to a home league that is better paying, better performance wise, and has more than 20 people in attendance signifies entitlement somehow lol

It would very likely be a mistake if he went back for his NHL prospects but don't act like you don't understand why the AHL is so unappealing to Euro pros.

you complain about him not playing...meaning not enough ice time. :naughty:
Haha i meant he shouldn’t be in the press box, that’s all. Unless of course something came out like he did something horrible like cursed out the coaching staff or something.

From what I've read about this kid over the last year I wrongly thought he was going to be immune to this sorta thing... it's a little depressing. There is nothing inherently special about him to where he's above some AHL seasoning.

Wonder if showing up at the top of most prospect rankings inflated his head a bit

I’ll reserve my judgement until something final has happened on this situation. I don’t think anybody wanted this scenario potentially playing out 3-4 games into the season.

The fact that this is even being rumored is absurd.

Not going to get on Kravtsov, because I don’t know what’s going on his head. This is Micky Mouse management from the Rangers, however. They’ve done an awful job handling our top prospects the past few years - complete bush league.

Keeping in mind that some guys simply do not have what it takes, what evidence is there that anything has been "Mickey Mouse management" and "awful" when it comes to handling NYR prospects lately?

Exactly, this is a brutal situation. If anything it just creates unwanted tension from both sides. Going back to the KHL isn't bad for Kravtsov but it is bad for the Rangers. Everyone can sit and point fingers at who is wrong here, but Im sure it is a combination of both. We don't know what the Rangers told Kravtsov prior to this season, and we don't know what Kravtsov did to be healthied. All speculation

4 games in 17 days.

Maybe the Rangers will be calling him up either way once our season actually starts

I really find it hard to believe that this organization is going to keep playing Smith in the f***ing top 9.

This is not true. Kravtsov has room for improvement in the KHL. I've said it all year. He has not outgrown the KHL, like Tarasenko and Kuznetsov when they came over. Rangers jumped the gun. This organization has 0 patience when it comes to developing their prospects.
Didn’t he decide to come over this year? The rangers didn’t force him.

Wait, when did any of this become anything more than pure rumor mongering from a single, untrustworthy source on twitter?

Goddamn folks calm the heck down. Nothing has happened. It's very likely that nothing is happening and even if it does happen, even if he does go back, he's not even drinking age. He's got plenty of room to grow as a player here or there. As overrated as the KHL is I never said it was BAD at developing players. Plenty of players develop just fine there or they come here from there and develop fine. If VK's development is stopped dead bc he's in the KHL then he's likely a bust of a top 6 NHL prospect no matter what

I personally LIKE him being here more so he can adjust to the style of play here and work with some of his (hopefully) future teammates. He has a lot to learn regardless of what league he is developing in. I'd also obviously love having him eligible for a callup too.

But it should not be a problem at all if he wants to go to the KHL for 1 more season.

And again...nothing is even remotely confirmed. No one but this dude on twitter sent out a rumor.

The Rangers wanted to sign him last year but couldn't. Of course he wants to come over. Doesn't mean it's the best option. He still has a lot to learn in the KHL.
Agreed, but the point is it’s not just the organization’s decision. He wanted to come over.

Imo from watching him he mostly just needs to adjust to the limited time and space the NA game offers compared to the Russian game. Get better at picking his spots and timing his dekes and skill moves. I think that can be done this year in the AHL whereas going back to the KHL will help him develop in other ways but might not grow the exact skills that are currently holding him back here.

At this point, I don't believe there's anything he has to learn in the KHL that he can't learn in Hartford and there's more for him to learn in Hartford.

While I disagree I can understand your point. I think an extra year in the KHL isn't going to hinder his development.

bingo. The things holding him back from the NHL at this exact moment are not the things he'd learn in the KHL.

Not that he wouldn't improve on things and come better prepared for the NHL if he did go back to the KHL for the year, but he's not going to adjust to the pace and spacing of the NA style game by playing more in the KHL.
