Miller was up-and-down. Kreider was up-and-down. Plenty of others in the same boat. Prospects don't often follow a linear progression. No reason to think Kravtsov won't get it on track. Same with Lias and Chytil. These guys are so young. Everyone wants instant gratification.

Call me crazy, but I'm going to go out on a limb and saw that the massive pro-Kravtsov campaign we saw all summer praising him for his work ethic, watching him talk about how excited he is to be in NA, etc., doesn't really line up with this sudden mentality of wanting to opt into his EAC. Hell, we even saw all of the talk this past season about Kravtsov wanting to finish his contract with Traktor and then make the jump to North America for this season.

It doesn't line up at all, and it reeks of trying to get leverage on the Rangers to call Vitali up to the NHL. If he wants to play in the NHL, let him earn it in Hartford.

It's really quite bizarre.

VK's internal self-eval is clearly higher than the coaches eval. He had probably already picked out his apartment in NYC over the summer because he was confident he was a sure thing. Which is fine. The problem is the *not my own fault* reasoning. Have the chip on your shoulder and go out there and prove the coaches wrong. Don't f***ing pout (where there's smoke...)

I don't think it'd be a stretch to say that this kind of thing might be something a 20-year old needs to learn.

Definitely. Not all prospects have faced that much adversity coming up through the ranks and their first taste of it can be harsh.

So his agent is saying he neither confirms nor denies the comments. Kravtsov still at practice because he is still in the United States. 1+1=2.

I got an email today and I can't really go into details, but what it comes down to is that it's not 100% sure Kravtsov will play for Traktor if he opts to trigger his clause.

Public report out of Sports Express said that Traktor was shopping Kravtsov's KHL rights, but the price point mentioned was outrageous.

As I said before this would go against your assertion that the move would lineup perfectly with Kravtsov's return by NHL's TDL because he'd be going to a team that is bound for Gagarin Cup playoffs and which expected to go well beyond first round.

Yes. The timeline for Kravtsov's return lining up with the trade deadline would be in the case of him playing for Traktor. Several teams are interested, but $3m is a lot of money for 1 year of Kravtsov. Several teams are only interested if they can have him for more than 1 year. I think SKA is still the most likely candidate.

Just throwing it out there:

Isn’t it possible that this “news” was designed to foster bad blood and tension between the NYR and VK? Obviously the KHL would like him back and Traktor has an interest in getting something for his rights no?

Just saying, maybe we should wait to find out more from VK himself and see what actually happens before going into a social media meltdown that could actually make the situation worse if it amplifies these tensions. I realize it’s kind of a bit late for that, but...maybe worth thinking about from here.

KHL rights are dealt all the time for players not active in the KHL. Nobody west of the Atlantic will say anything about this until a decision is made. But speculation is strong in a month where the Rangers play based on an NFL schedule
